Couple of other games that spring to mind watching us lose 6-0 away at Derby then getting legged all over the place by a Derby mob, and Blackburn away losing 4-0 but the events of the day overshadowed by the FA Cup semi final at Hillsborough
unfortunately i was at both of those
didn't Hendry play his first game at Derby, or was it after that game we bought him?

Can't remember i have blocked it from memory!!! I know Gerry Taggert had a stinker in the Blackburn game!

Think Machin was sacked shortly after this and Gayle had a stinker and was replaced by hendry

was at stoke away in 98, and i was one of the idiots who turned up for the AW game against mansfield. however, i am one of only three people on this forum who wasn't at york away. gutted, came so close to being a real city and blew it
same here, not at york but was at mansfield AW game (only time I sat in new kippax for a game), and stoke, and daftest apart from friendlies like Newport County and Rangers was Torquay midweek with Potter.

What about those midweek games, in 74 I think, when because the power workers were on strike floodlights were banned so we had to kick off on Wednesday afternoon. I think there was 3 , WBA, Coventry and Plymouth in the League Cup. Had to bunk off school to watch. That reminds me of another WBA game when there was a bomb scare and the ref Roger Kirkpatrick picked the ball up and gave it a good shake. Funny at the time.

Are you referring to the Rotherham 1-1 away when Bernarbia equalised in the last ten minutes.
From memory Sun Ji Hai made his debut as a sub and the chant Sun Ji Hai theres only 3 million Sun Ji Hai's rang down but never really heard it again.

Nope. More important than that.

Did the Huddersfield 10-1 and most of the home games since the early 70's including the 4-0 mauling of the rags when Buchan ended Nijinsky's career. For whatever reason I was in J block that night and it full of rags. By half time and 3-0 down they'd all gone home. Came out after Joe Royle banged in the fourth to cadge a lift back home to Wythenhawe. There was about 60,000 in the stadium that night and there was a bus strike in the City. I got home to watch it again on David Coleman's Sportnight. There were no videos or sky plus around then.

The Boro league cup semi where we beat them 4-0 ...I think Ged Keegan and Alan Oakes were on the score sheet was also a great night.

In 1974 I wagged school to watch i think a quarter final of the league cup on a weekday afternoon. The miners strike was on so at anytime the power could go off and everyone was watching how much power they used... hence no flood lights.

Done loads of away's including the pitch invasion one in Leeds. What a great day laughing at the wooly backs.
Does anyone remember a 4-1 win at Villa Park where Dennis Tueart scored a hat trick after we went behind in the first 5 minutes. There was no roof on the then new stand (facing the holt end) it pissed down all night and we were soaked." We're singing in the rain, just singing in the rain what a glorious feeling we're hap hap happy again etc was sung for ages as a piss take.

Best ever though was the last home game...it'll never be beaten

Did we win 1-0 and we were back into division 1....since then?
