Iain Banks has died

Shame. Very, very good author. I've read a lot of his stuff, and the guy was a phenomenal talent.

Sad news. I've enjoyed a number of his books over the years (The Wasp Factory is a modern classic). Wasn't he only very recently diagnosed as terminally ill?

A terrible shame. One of my favourite authors. I'd wholeheartedly recommend 'Espedair Street' (about a fictitious Scottish 70s rock band) and 'Complicity' ( serial killer murder mystery) to anybody looking for an interesting read.

said he was very ill with cancer, clearly too ill

In true literary style he announced his own demise several months ago, married his long term partner and then retired entirely from all public life. Respect. A class writer and more and a sad loss at a relatively young age.

We have lost one of our major literary talents today. Banks was a fine storyteller.

Especially loved his Sci-fi/Culture novels. Amazing imagination.
