If Celtic and Rangers were addd into the Premier League next summer, what would their potential be?

Not this again?

Nearly every year, a poster asks this question.

Well, here’s the answer: it’s not going to happen.
Agree. Why not start a thread about Ajax or Anderlecht or PSV or Linfield. Always those bloody two. And as you say it wont happen. This question was always asked on Talk Sport on a slow news day - guaranteed to get the calls in and blood pulses running high!

The real answer is that ...it depends on how they spend the money in your hypothetical. But the SPL is shit, absent any massive investment either team would be relegated in their first season.

That blue dipper (Mike something) on Talkshite always used to go on about them "taking 15,000 to every away game" which would be interesting as they'd only get 3,000 tickets.
And nobody has ever suggested a reason why the majority of PL clubs would vote for two spaces to be given to them which would mean an additional two relegation places or reducing promotion for a season. - UEFA don't like 22 team leagues so forget any ideas of expanding the Prem.
Next - Nobody has come up with a workable plan to deal with either or both of them finishing in the bottom three. Back to Scotland or into the EFL (which would involve the EFL agreeing).
Finally there's the issue of Europe. Many suggest the Gruesome Twosome could play their reserve or youth teams in the SPL and still qualify but why would the SPL agree to that as it would only advertise the poor standard of their league.

the premier league is far to big and strong for them to play a 38 game season that means something to every team, in scotland the league is so weak and they can roll over many of them week in week out with a poor squad, but in the premier league questions are asked of you from the first game to the last and nobody rolls over

for anybody coming down from scotland must learn the game from a lower level, like league one or maybe the championship but even the championship is a cruel league, just look at the teams that are planted in mid-table every season, somebody like leeds who i would say is a bigger club than celtic or rangers so again even the lower leagues are full with good clubs, maybe it would be better for 4 or 5 clubs from england going the other way and injecting some entertainment into a poor league
