If Hughes stays...

I said it on the other thread that due to peoples agneda with MH (due to neve wanting him at the club) there is a small section of fans determined to undermine him, almost at any cost..

We need to build for a few years...forget top 6 for the moment....lets just get in the top half ang go from there!

Considering we we're top 10 last season with a weakend side and have added £50mil+ worth of talent THATS BOLLOX we're bottom 4 joint 3rd bottom if you exclude goal differance.

I see the amoebas are slowly joining us...

Just so we're clear, I was under the impression that the premier league season ends in May, not in December. Therefore, if we're still languishing nearer the bottom of the league in May, feel free to come on here and tell us all "THATS BOLLOX" - in the meantime, try and relax and let the people who know what they're doing got on with managing the club.

I suspect people have more intestinal fortitude than to walk away from the club because they don't like the manager.

Ha! Backbones are in severely short supply on this board at the moment...

I can just imagine some of the more vociferous anti-Hughes posters practically foaming at the mouth if he's still in charge in March - regardless of where we are in the league table...

all well and good Billy but do you honestly think Hughes could survive if we lose on Sunday? - that is part of the problem now, because of our league position he is most definitely on a "match by match" basis.

One game will make no difference to Hughes's position as manager. That is exactly the kind of knee jerk thinking which has made clubs like Newcastle such a joke...

...I'm pretty sure our owners are a little more circumspect than that...

It's funny that there are still people who don't actually read what people like me post. I have been fairly critical of Hughes in recent weeks. However, I have continually stopped short of suggesting we sack him. But to the simpler, denser, posters, that comes across as "Hughes is the best in the world..."

Being reactionary is in the nature of the vast majority of people who come on boards like this. That's why they populate them...

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't sack him unless we have a replacement waiting in the wings, but if we don't then he'll get the sven treatment from now until the end of the season.

The only hysteria I see on here is from the likes of you, running around ranting at anyone that dare have a critical word about the manager.

I see we're back to the "I know you are but what am I" discussion tactic. Very grown up.

And I haven't insulted you personally once in this thread...must be in the spirit of the season...;- )

People don't want him because of his past with the scum. It's that simple!

They don't look at his track record of bringing in decent players, coaching staff, training regimes and ability to grind out results! There overlooking this because of what's happening at the moment and when it does happen I for one be there serving a nice big slice of humble pie!

But why do you want to replace a manager who simply hasn't been given enough to time to prove he's capable of taking us to where we want to go. There are countless examples (Ferguscum, and Rijkaard being two) of managers who had piss poor starts, but over time got their team playing, and winning, exactly how they wanted.

Although in total denial, most people are actually just subscribing to the "I want it all, and I want it know" theory of football...which is all the more shocking considering the state the club was in just two years ago...

If we lose at The Hawthorns on Sunday Hughes is going to be under a lot of pressure, but I don't see the point in sacking him for the sake of it if we've got no realistic replacement lined up. Our history of continually sacking managers has hardly proved successful in the past after all. If things don't improve in the second half of the season then review his position in the summer, and see who's available then.

i think it is being rather naive to think that he won't get sacked if we slip into the bottom 3 with a defeat on sunday.

of course if we win and move towards mid-table then all well and good, i am sure that changing managers mid-season is not what the owners want to do - they would much rather give him until end of seasn and make a judgement then.

the owner will not take kindly to dropping into the bottom 3 and as such whatever spin is blabbed out by cook will not matter if the unthinkable defeat happens.

i am well aware that managers of Mourinho's ilk would be much more attainable in a summer period however imo Sunday is a must win.

Glad to see BillyShears is spreading the good word with others (aka Moomba and MikeD). I was begining to take it personally (not).

Billy, can you not comprehend that in this world there will always be people who will have views that are contrary to yours, no problem there.

But rather than attacking other peoples views, why do you not just make your case that will support your views?

To date apart form being the brightest prospect in British football and pointing out that Mark Hughes took Blackburn to three semi finals (I think) and the fact he won Manager of the month in October 2007, there has been very little, if any substance behind the pro-Hughes arguement.

The things I dont like about Hughes have been well document and I won't repeat them.

Though being brightest prospect at the age of 46/47 or whatever he is says something in itself.

I am more than happy to exchange banter on here, safe in the knowledge that it will not change the any decisions being made at the club, nor for that matter change the minds of people who have views that differ to mine. The latter will happen, one way or another through the results on the field.

Have a good tour..... you in a Boy Band or summat?
