If it DOESN’T go ahead

In the words of Kev..I'd bloody love it if it's true about City and Chelsea waivering about joining and certainly us, withdrawing from it. When I read about this I was severely disappointed about our owners. I thought they would be the last to sign up to this. Everything they have done for the club, the area and especially the fans. From my perspective, they seem to have always put the fans centre stage and made us feel a part of it, more than I have seen from any other club. I know things have changed since I went to my first match in '75 but back then, you pretty much turned up, watched the match and went home but now there's so much more.

I can understand why they signed up as they can't afford to get left behind but I understand that UEFA are looking at extra finance so I am sure that if we withdrew and stayed with the Prem and CL, we could make it pay.

I was starting to lose interest in football quite a while ago, var has paralysed the game this season together with no fans in the stadium, been a hard watch. I could walk away but it would be bloody difficult, City just have to fuck this tournament off, we don't need this extra fucking money
That is exactly the issue, we DO need the money. Not at this moment in time but if we don't accept the invitation to the ESL and other clubs in the ESL stay in their domestic league we will be highly disadvantaged, both in income and ability to attract the top players.

My view is both Chelsea and City have had no option but to go along with it. I am sure this is exactly the backlash our owners would have expected.

This is a stitch up to football that left us between a rock and a hard place. We were without doubt in a stronger position without this concept, due to the business model we have.

Lets hope that the decision is overturned and we can get back to what we were planning. I am sure the truth will come out about the ringleaders and coercion that has taken place in time

The ring leaders are the American owned clubs. And they both play in Red in the North West of England

imo it will go ahead after a lot of dialogue, compromise and amendments
Agree, with massive parachute payments made to respective domestic leagues from the SL clubs. There is no way the 12-15 clubs will be ditched from their domestic leagues because that would mean a huge reduction in media revenues as the likes of Sky would re-negotiate the PL deal on the basis of reduced quality. At the end of the day it's all about money and Sky and their pundits have no ground to complain, let's not forget this is a Company that wanted to charge £15 a game during the first stages of the pandemic, talk about pot calling the kettle...

Do I love the idea of the new midweek super league - no
Do I like the idea of increasing the CL anyway - no - I've always thought it should be just for league winners and the increase in proposed games would only add to an already hectic schedule - like the Nations Cup it's a rubbish idea.
Do I think if it happens it will be the end of football - no
Do I think the SL will happen - yes I do. Rubbish time to announce anything but it's what you get with the likes of Liverpool and Utd's owners who frankly don't give a shit as they only care about maximising global revenue.
Will I still follow my club in whatever league we play - yes
Do I think Sky are scared shitless by the likes of Amazon and Youtube - you bet.

Agree with this. I was teetering with football in general, players diving, feining injury, player power, agents, VAR, arseing around with perfectly decent rules that I now dont understand. ( I already dont watch any other game other than City, but cant say I even really enjoy that that much...dont even get of the couch when we score) I wont be interested in a Super League and I wont be interested in a diluted PL or Chumps League anyway - irrespective of what side of the fence we end up on - so there aint much left Im afraid.

Sad thing is right now I really dont know if Id miss it. (and I know my support wont be missed by those in power) What I would miss is "this", the banter and joking with City fans and other footie fans in fairness.

I stopped eating meat (which I absolutely loved!) a few years ago on principle and found it easier than I ever imagined it would be. I think this might go the same way. Equally I wont judge people if they continue to support the club or go and support County. Each has to chose the course of action that suits him or her.

I think something will happen but not necessarily what is being discussed at the moment.
The Premier League will be reduced and a different European league will also happen.

The big clubs will insulate themselves from financial risk and it will be harder for the smaller teams to do a Leicester’.

Agree. The motivation is money. If this goes ahead and the clubs are kicked out of domestic comps then they are not financially better off. There might be a pot of cash there to entice them but I would think they assume that they play on in there domestic leagues.

As much as we would love to believe that (and it may be true and you are probably right) If Chelsea, Tottingham, Arse and us would have gone against it early doors, them other two wouldnt have had a chance to put pen to paper and it would never have got off the ground, so there is no way I am taking the "it wasnt us miss, it was them big naughty boys" position.(that is what their fans would do)
Ive defended our club against all sorts of slime throwing in recent years (I live and work next to Bayern Munichs training ground for god sake), but I cant not defend our actions in this or claim the innocent victim. (the other two are better at that, particularly one of them!)
