'If It's Not Broke, Don't Fix It'

I don't think Platt agrees with this but he's too scared to challenge Robbie because he knows hes too stubborn.

Stick to trying new tactics and formations in pre season, Mancini! this is the Premier League mate where every game is a challenge.

Needs to pick his best back four and stick with it in the premiership.

Our link play between defense and midfield is way too pedestrian and this needs to be addressed quickly.

A number of issues that need rectifying have surfaced and we have the side to do it and Mancini is capable of ensuring we can get back on track but whether he will this season is another matter altogether.

No one likes seeing the substandard performances we have dished up at home this season continuing for any length of time and we need to start to really boss away from home as well starting on Saturday.

Maybe the players just don't believe in the new system... hence the lack of effort from some.

I've been telling people that we're only off 2 points from last season considering the fixtures we've played (drew against stoke & pool this year and last, won against Arsenal at home) with multiple injuries and several players (Silva) being off their top form....

But I am starting to worry myself, especially after this result tonight. I wonder how many of Mancini's superstitions have been broken this first month of the season?

Maybe the players aren't fully cognizant of what their responsibilities are in all game situations in this new formation. Overall, we've conceded many goals so far precisely because players are (1) out of position (mids AND defs) and (2) not sure of which opposing player to mark in our own third of the pitch.

Was Gregucci brought in to help implement the 352?

It is going to take some time for the newest lads - Garcia, Nasty and Maicon, to bed into our club and the league as a whole. Please also remember that none of these players have ever played, nor resided, in England before.

With all this going on, is it any wonder that Joe Hart has looked uncomfortable at times so far?

I do not totally agree with this concept.

Do we want a coach with one-dimensional or a tactical coach, a thinker?

This is the question.

I think what Mancini is trying to do is to develop the team to a higher level, and development needs courageous decisions because it means that there are stages of weakness and we have to accept to pay the cost until we achieve our target and improve our game.

If we accept this argument that we do not need to fix what is not broken, we will never improve, we will keep doing what we know and will never try a new ways.

one of my favorite quotes is this:

(Freedom is not worth having it, if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes) by Gandhi

I believe we always have to find new solutions through new experiences.

Last season we won the league on goal difference and did not pass the group stage in the Champions League. This season we want to win the league through difference in points and pass through the most difficult group in the Champions League, and therefore, we can not continue to walk in the same direction and expect or hope to achieve a better results

I think this what Mncini is trying to do, is to improve our team.

That's fine but its only good when you have the right set up and players to do it.

We do need to adapt because sides will change the way they play us now both and home and away and we won't get as much space as we did last year especially at home.

So far both management and the players have been caught on the hop somewhat but by and large both individually and collectively we are just off the boil so far this season with plenty of time still to get it right.

I think you are essentially correct here. Mancio showed some courage and forward-thinking by attempting to install a new formation (3-5-2), especially since it allows for more attacking options against clubs that "park the bus" against us at the Etihad. However, the problem is that there was an abbreviated preseason, and so far, this new wrinkle has cost us enough points that the manager and players are now under extreme pressure to get results. Maybe this new formation will have to wait until later this season or even next season, as Mancio will be rightly concerned about our position in the league table.

That's a very positive way of thinking and I hope you're right.

My concern is that the weaknesses in our squad became apparent after Christmas and that Roberto still hasn't rectified them yet. Lack of pace, and more crucially, mobility in midfield, lack of experienced cover at centre half, lack of width. We struggle against parked buses, and when we're pressed high up the pitch we don't have an outball and end up getting pinned too deep as a result.
Last night, we changed the defensive line up and formation 3 times during the game, and yet just like Liverpool, Madrid, Arsenal and even Southampton, the opposition simply ran through us. The midfield needs sorting as much as the defence, and Mancini making Lescott a scapegoat (whatever his faults), isn't going to help matters. I don't think Mancini knows what his best line up or formation is at the moment, and that's not good enough. We need to sort it quickly though, I do know that
