If not Hodgson, who?

The FA have tried most things to get success - since the 1966 World Cup. A number of English Managers with decent track records in England, Revie Robson, Greenwood et al, a few Foreigners Sven and Capello; plus a few clowns - Taylor and McClaren come to mind. Of all these none ever seem to have been their own man - and it's hard to distinguish between managers - they have all been ultra conservative, blind to the failings of celebrity players - all take injured players to major tournaments. Maybe it's not appointing a decent manager that's the problem but the FA itself... They need a decent Chief Exec with a long term vision - like Germany a few years back to totally transform the national team because we are going round in circles grasping at solutions. (When the FA interviewed Greg Dyke - did they not uncover his proven track record for being an unmitigated disaster!). Whenever we get a decent young player we never nurture and develop them through the u21 system - like Spain or Germany ( teach them to dominate games) - we always know best and chuck them in the National team - "if they are good enough they are ready" but they arn't and we ruin them. We are so desperate for success we fail to see the things we need to put in place to solve our problems. England under the FA suffer from many of the failings City did under Peter Swales but it's not hard to see why? Who appointed Graham Taylor and Charles Hughes???

There are no top English managers. Probably the best was 'arry Redknapp and he was tactically clueless. It's a big problem for England. I guess we'll go for Pardew next and we'll be in the same situation.
Even the best young British managers have failed at big clubs. Rodgers, Moyes and Hughes have shown they are average when given big jobs.
