As an alternative to either of these players, (both of whom I'd take in a heartbeat) but I think a realistic target for us this summer could be..

Wesley Schnider (apologies). I know he's been injured but if there is going to be a cull at Real, he's the sort of midfielder who would improve us no end & would pull the strings in midfield with De Jong protecting him & Ireland doing the hard running.
I think Madrid could let him go if they go for Ronaldo & Kaka

I think that would be an awesome signing

Real quality player before he went to Madrid, if he got back to that quality he would run this league .....

No doubting his very obvious quality, who knows how he'll handle the prem though, only one way to find out!

I dont think he does enough box to box work from what i have seen. He is wonderful as an attacking midfielder, marginally better than ireland right now, but i feel ireland will be better than him in the future. He would also be wasted on the wing so not what we need now in my opinion.
