Ive got an idea...send ALL our convicts over to Oz to pick the fruit.. That will help decrease the prison population over here and help out the fruit farmers over there.

I suspect we are living through a big shift in work. We can argue all day as to how much is covid and how much brexit related but can probably all agree that the employment landscape in this country and beyond is going to be very differently Jan 21 than it was in Jan 20. Short answer to the op is that some people will be doing all sorts of jobs that they didn't think they would before and fruit picking will doubtless be one.
I already know some West end musicians that after 30 years in the profession are driving amazon vans.

Yes I would. It’s hard work but its outdoors and I like being active. However, there is a but.....

Where this work is tends to be away from large cities and poorly served by public transport, especially so when you consider the start times of the work. Car ownership is low in the section of the population that would need to pick this kind of work up.

I was firmly in the camp that said it was ridiculous we needed foreigners to come over here and pick out fruit for us, but it’s simply inaccessible for a lot of ppl.

I know I would because I went picking apples 2 weeks after landing in Melbourne still with about 7k in my bank account. Did a couple of weeks of that shite then did 3 weeks picking grapes

If the choice was picking fruit so myself and family didn’t starve then yes, of course I would.
