I noticed that the Nigerian FA is trying to get him to play for them in the World Cup. Now since he hasnt played for the England senior squad i presume he can play for them.

So if you were Ned what would you do?

He was born in Warri, South Nigeria. I think if i was ned i would do it. Do you think he would ever make the english squad in the future? Or would you bide your time to the next world cup and decide then?

Someone asked me this question a few weeks ago about someone else (can't remember who, but I think it was also Nigeria). My answer now is the same as then - it depends entirely on how he feels; if he thinks of himself as Nigerian, then go for it, but if he thinks of himself as English and just considers Nigeria as a place where he was born, then he should sit tight and wait for the next World Cup.

A more pressing concern for him at the moment is probably whether to stay at City or move on elsewhere to get regular first-team football.

Exactly as I see it. I think I remember him stating that his preference was to play for England, as he is English having spent the formative years of his life here. He has nothing to loose by waiting, Nigeria for all of the talent they have had in the past are not and never really have been great defensively. If he still hasn't got into the England squad in 4 years why not make himself available for Nigeria; he'll only be 27 still.

And I do hope he stays here, I think people have a tendency to overlook him as he is a academy graduate but there is no reason the former England u-21 captain cannot make it here or for the England national team.

I doubt he'd ever make it in the england first team unless he leaves here. His injury record isn't going to help him if he carries on picking up injuries

^^ That's what I thought the thread would be about tbh.

I agree with the rest of your post too, although Nedum may lose patience if he doesn't get a look-in over the next couple of years.
