if your wtchn on the tv your a ****

I agree we are all blues and should stand together but the blues who say no one should mention how poor the attendance was last night has to be be because they are ashamed. I understand all the different excuses etc however I dont expect blues to come on and explain themselves. If you didnt go because you couldnt be arsed then my thoughts are you probably felt ashamed watching last night but other than that blues who didnt go shouldnt have to explain yourselves. I have to say if we were playing AC Milan and, before anyone says I know theyve gone out, we would have had at least 40 thousand there credit crunch or no credit crunch. It was a really poor attendance which annoyed me at first but once the game got under way I couldnt care less because I was there and I watch the blue boys turn it on. As I tell all the pub going rags I come across, nothing beats going to the game but that is something they will never understand.

This is a forum so blues having a go at other blues for moaning about the attendance need to stop reading forums as this is where people come to air their views.

great song!26thou was embarrasing.

just seen all this going on, and its probably all abit tired now, but will add my opinion anyway.

I didnt go last night and to be honest the only home UEFA games Ive been to are the one at Barnsley and FCK last time.
However I made a conscious choice to miss the homes so had a few more quid for aways - and that was spent going to Cyprus and Germany. If we can and do get Ajax - I will go there , likewise with the final.
I do feel ashamed not to turn up. But money is tight. Ive got a ST as have my 2 lads. So the league is covered, but gota be careful with what I spend beyond that. For us to have gone last night would have cost £50+ all in. Id rather have that on account for the next away

Im not sure what age of the OP is - but when you got committments, city just cant come above everything else.

I played futy last night and didnt wear anything with city on, beacuse Ive ridiculed so many reds out in their colours when they are playing at home - and to do the same myself makes me cringe. Saw from 15 mins in and didnt leap about when SWP scored for the same reason.

Win the lottery and will never miss a game again.
Til then just got to apply some sense
Dont think Im a cvnt because of this though

i can understand mate, i wasnt trying to single anyone out, i was just frustrated that everyone crys out for european football and no one turns up!

my mate goes to all the euro away matches and none of the home ones, its at home where we need support the most!

its also very hard to now argue that we have better fans than villa and spuds, because their fans turn up to these matches

To be fair I don't think everyone has been crying out for UEFA Cup football.

Champions League crowds would be a different story.

Tbh I did watch it on T.V last night but was dying to go but had no choice as the Nhs don't allow days off for city games! It's pathetic the Nhs should be sued because a rag wants a day off for the game because they are playin timbuctwo in the donald duck championships they are granted it!!! So it's not the fact that people don't want to go it's just sometimes they can't go

i watched it at home so that means everyone who went last night are bigger and better fans than me

i think we should do what they do in the swamp and put people on a compulsary European cup scheme.
NO this should not happen, we should never have to pay for games we can't attend which are outside the league fixtures, I for one was dissapointed about last nights attendance, but can't really say much as I didn't go.

Here comes my excuse, Ive recently moved to London and have missed the last few mid week home games, as it would be a 70 squid 7 hour round journey. But if I'd been in Manc you can bet your bottom dollar I would have been there.

We have to remember we just at the start of something big attendances will come! But after going to Shalke and Copenhagen and seeing there home support it is a tad embarresing!

I've been to every home UEFA game this season. Why?

Because I can be bothered even though my finances are stretched ATM, but more importantly, I want to accumulate as many points as I can so I can get a UEFA Cup final ticket if we reach the final. The irony will be that some of those fans who haven't bothered going to to UEFA Cup games may miss out on a final ticket because they haven't got enough loyalty points and will have to pay through the nose for a final ticket, when they could have bought one at face value if they had attended the UEFA Cup home games and got enough loyalty points that way.

Disagree with there being a compulsory cup tickets scheme, that would be disgusing, we aint the rags.

I dont see why all the arguing, let people have their say. When you walk out and realise that hardly anyone is there, its upsetting for some because it doesnt feel like City, thats how it is for me but im not gonna have a go at those that didnt go.

''I was there, I dont care'' should be the attitude, although I do agree that some people just cant be bothered which is their perogative - fuck them I say, I dont care for fair weather fans and would much rather have a hardcore 25k than diluting it with people that would much rather sit in the pub.

The same arguement comes up for away games, this is where I end up on the otherside of the fence because I physically cant afford it - so I can understand how these type of threads make people feel, were all blues after all.

Group hug...........

I couldn't afford it, simple as that. Bills, direct debits, you know, the usual.

So yeah, I have to pick and choose the games I go to.

But I love this football club. If I could afford a season ticket I would buy one every year.

People can spout off all they want and get on their high horse because they go to more games, but all I'm trying to do is live within my means.

although relatively cheap, the cost for a family for a game against aalborg is way too much.

for a family to spend 50 odd quid on last nights game or watch at home, you can understand why people gave the match a miss.

city have been innovative with ticket pricing, but they are missing a trick with the uefa games in my opinion.

the club seem to be settling for 20000 empty seats rather than enticing fans along for what could prove to be a turning point in city's history.

i would offer group ticket prices.

2 adult 2 kids 25
2 adult 4 kids 30 quid
2 adults 20 quid

not only cheaper deals for kids, but also for the regulars, the ones who never get any perks.

the old saying a sprat for a mackarel.

£25 was a bit pricey i think they should've been fiver for kids 15 for adults...The arab owners should spread the wealth on to us the poor twats who have watched some shite over the years!!!

Good post. The question should not be about why so many didn't turn up but what can we do to entice them to come along. And that means really big discounts. ST discounts. Group discounts. £5 for kids etc. The only other thing to do is to offer significantly more loyalty points for cup matches up to the final stages.

It doesn't matter that it shouldn't be needed. It is needed. Last night was not a one-off.
Apologies if already mentioned but just being the first leg of a two legged tie on TV must have knocked several thousand off the attendance. There are people out there who pick and choose their games (always have been) and last nights game was an obvious candidate to miss. They've mostly got to watch the second leg on TV anyway so I can understand many of them thinking 'what feckin difference I'll save my cash'. Some blame should be apportioned to UEFA for the seemingly endless number of matches involved before getting to a meaningful stage of the competition.

I'd rather go but I also wish it was full. City should act.

PS Elasticity of demand my arse.

lol to some of the self-righteous pricks on this thread.

24,000 is a small % of our fan base. You're basically calling the vast majority of City fans coonts because they couldn't make a game of football.

I didn't go, and i couldn't give a fuck!
