ifiwasarichfan condolences (Funeral details update P13)

Very sad about this news.

I got a lovely PM from Andy just before the semi final against united and we became good mates from that point, speaking occasionally on the phone and meeting up a few times at get-togethers and games.

He was, as others have said, a genuinely lovely man, who clearly cared greatly about those around him.

I spoke to him a month or so ago and he was the normal gentle, self-effacing Andy, determined to fight the battle ahead.

I'm so sorry he's gone, but I'm relieved he's not suffering anymore.

RIP mate.

Floored by this. Not only the loveliest person you could ever hope to meet - and if you didnt know Andy please take my word that he was one of those very rare folk who got a million times more happiness through the happiness of others than himself - but also a brave soul too.

When he first got ill I suggested he posted on here pointing out that many posters have been through similar and it might be a help. He said he didnt want it to look like he was 'showing off' which is perhaps the most northern thing Ive ever heard anyone say.

Last week when he called to say it was terminal he told me proudly that he'd only cried the once and then only very briefly.

He fought it with courage, self-deprication and by surrounding himself with those he loved.

Last word before I have a little cry (because I'm not the man Andy forever will be)

Andy was so nice that he initially 'threw' people he met. They would be caught off-balance because we're not used to encountering people who are just completely open and lovely and thinking entirely of others ahead of themselves.

I am proud to have known him.
Yep, I'm crying.

Rest up Andy mate. So sad. X

Never knew him really. Just read and enjoyed his posts on here.

From the words of the people who did, I wish I had known him. Sounds like a lovely human being.

RIP Andy.
