Iliman Ndiaye

I meant to say no experience, which he didn't have, he'd played a lot outside of the Premier League. The list is endless through out history, of top sides buying players from mid to lower league sides.

Yeah I agree, I just wouldn't go with the £100m squad player who we got maybe six decent months out of as another example. The others you gave were perfect.

Sorry but with your argument we would never of signed John Stone or Ake, Mahrez, I know he won the league with Leicester but he didn't have loads of experience in Europe or with playing three times a week also Jack Grelish had no trophy winning experience. And with your logic we should definitely not be in for Elliot Anderson. It doesn't mean you aren't a good footballer if you are not playing for a top side.

Couple things -

1. Youve entirely ignored where I said "exceptions like Anderson"

2. I said we shouldn't be exclusively pulling from this pool of player not, not at all.

3. The 3 players you listed whilst very good players, never held down a starting spot at our club, Stones due to injury for the most part but still.
Our best players from the last 10-15years were all signed from champions league teams competing in the top leagues.
Haaland, Aguero, both Silvas, Rodri, De Bruyne ect.

And since, Donnarumma and Gvardiol have been our first team signings from that caliber of league/team combo(we need more of this ready made, established level) Kovacic was surplus at Chelsea but him too.

But if we're to compete on multiple fronts moving forward we can't just be signing players like Ndiaye who is 26 and has 2 ok seasons in the premier league to his name. Savinho out Ndiaye in for same money is pointless... from those teams you go their best player(Anderson, Mahrez, Guehi, Semenyo) or you go potential world class talent - (Cherki, Khusanov, Doku..... Kroupi?)

All our duds in recent years are 25year old plusers from midtable and lower teams as theres the gamble on whether they can make the step up having never played at high levels before(Grealish, Phillips, Midfield Nunes, Reijnders, Marmoush) that's over 300mil there... that could've been like 2 of the worlds best in their position players signed instead.

But Ndiaye is exactly like Anderson, Mahrez, Guehi and Semenyo... The best player at a lower English club. We have Doku, Semenyo, Cherki and Foden. We are trying to replace (Marmoush and Savio) with one player. Technically, he is up to par (something Semenyo wasn't).... He might not be as prolific of a scorer as Foden or Semenyo but his technique is generally very good.

I am happy if we can find a more explosive or accomplished player ( and agreed he doesn't have World Class potential.) Bur he'd be a very good role player. D

Anyone saying he's average does not watch football.

Is he world class? No. But he' certainly not average. He is one of the best dribblers in the league and technically brilliant. The only concern you would have if you signed him is he just lacks that composure and consistency with the final pass/ball. But then playing for us sometimes he doesn't have great options and people double up on him.

I don't think that would be a big problem if you signed him as the quality around him is much better and like Doku/Grealish, if players are doubling up on them it means space is being left for others to exploit.

I honestly think he would be a brilliant signing for you, but can see why many would have reservations.
