been excellent recently, not at that peak quite tonight but still a largely good performance, would be nice for him to take a couple of those simpler chances to make it easier for us, but nice he took a cool penalty.

Or he is a team player who is willing to sacrifice the better parts of his game for the common good. It came as no surprise to me that the armband was handed to him as he is a leader and the other players recognise that.

With our central defence issues last season, he was asked to play a role he wouldn't normally fulfil, that hampered his natural game, but he did it without whingeing, there were no histronics to the media, he did what he could in an unfamiliar role.

Now he is reaping the benefit of us having solved the central defence issues which allows him to play his natural game and we are seeing the result of that in his performances.

Professional footballers do that, if we were short wide left upfront and the manager asked Ederson to play there, would you be as critical of Ederson as you have been of Gundogan.
