Ilkay Gundogan

We’re not in possession of all the facts and conversations he’s had with the club, but on the face of it, it does kind of seem like he’s just been stalling us to wait for Barca to work out his registration. Claiming he hadn’t made his mind up yet just feels like a lie to me. Even Pep said recently Gundo hasn’t made his mind up yet. I don’t buy it. Wish he’d have been more open with the club as we lost ground on potential replacements.

Aside from that though, what an incredible player he’s been for us. All the best Gundo.

Not sure that we have actually lost ground on any of our intended replacements TT, as pretty sure we will have things lined up to cover the potential loss of Gundo/Bernado.

Bellingham it appears was not going to happen anyway.

All the best Mr Whippy. The most underrated midfielder in Prem history.

I really do hope Kovacic hasn't been brought in as his replacement and we're working on a deal for Rice, etc.

If we knew this was a possibility for a long time it’s hard to understand why we’d let MacAllister go to Liverpool without competition. Would be a perfect Gundo replacement. Can only assume we have something else lined up. Really really hope it’s not Rice

Presumably weren't that bothered about him?

Haha the Sly Sports negativity on the Kovacic to City article. Mentions of age and poor stats, good value for Chelsea etc. Let's face it, 3 years ago we'd have all thought Kovacic was the better player over Gundogan. Ilkay proved his worth to us when he was approaching his 30s, what a man and what a player. He will be sorely missed but bows out as a City legend and I wish him all the best.
I'm sorry but that just isn't true; at no point during their respective tenures was Kovacic held in higher regard than Gundo, he just isn't on the same level

Will be gutted to see Gundo go if he does, top class professional and human being. That’s football for you though. Next

It makes sense for Gundogan. He’s achieved everything in England. It’s an opportunity to go to Barca to end his career and begin his coaching path. He’s not going there to prove a point
Well Barca have designs on the CL I'm sure. They haven't featured much in this competition for years now. I think they might be hoping Ilkay could give them a little push in CL this season. It would be silly for Gundogan to not have this in mind and likewise Barça needs to realize they can't expect too much from one signing to improve their recent CL results.

I’m devastated. I wanted him to stay even more than Bernie
