He has already played there, he has rotated with Haaland as striker and in the spot behind the striker (KdB usually).

I think Bernie will likely leave tbh. Rice seems Arsenal bound.

Definitely. We won’t have a better opportunity than to let those that want to leave go now after doing the treble. If we wanted to keep Gundo we would have offered him whatever he wanted.

All I want is creativity and speed. Regardless of how good Gundo has been the drop off in quality balls to Haaland is huge. Playmaker needed badly. Kev can then be managed bit better.

Can you ask the same players to go again? Not many will have that drive. No point watching them struggle next season. Get new fresh legs in and go again.

Were in the shit here. With KDB injured and getting older (looked knackered at times) if we lose Gundo/mahrez/bernardo thats a huge hole in that part of the squad.

Losing both Bernie and Mahrez hampers the RW heavily, we would need to invest 100% there.

But losing Gundo and Bernie in terms of midfield, adding in Kovacic and giving Phil more minutes in midfield basically makes up for that. Plus looks like McAtee + Bobb from our youth might fill in backup minutes.

I think midfield is fine tbh, it's the wings I'm more worried about when Phil plays in the centre more.
 
It would have been fantastic news to keep both Bernie and Gundo but Kovacic is not a bad replacement

I’ve got a conspiracy theory that sounds great in my head but probably idiotic on paper. City are going to nab Gabri veiga. It’s bizarre how quiet rumors are around him so they told him to wait until they get more clarity around gundo and Bernie’s situations. They’re becoming more clear and will now hopefully pick up traction with Gabri.

His profile would fit perfectly. Release clause. Success in la liga, young, and super creative. It makes no sense to me why someone hasn’t already paid his release clause unless he and his agent are waiting on something.

Disappointing news but fair enough; Barcelona gave him a two year contract and with us there were no real guarantees in that Gundo would have been good enough for a second season (Fernandinho being a recent example).

I know he has but I can't see it as being viable long term. Although he's an extremely talented footballer first touch and ball retention are not at the top of his list in terms of attributes. I can actually see him moving wide on occasion tho. I believe we will make a serious push for Rice and if that doesn't work out we'll move onto another established midfielder. We can't expect the same results in terms of health, fitness, and availability this term from KDB, Kovacic, and Bernardo/Foden as we got last term from KDB, Gundo, and Bernardo. The midfield needs to become similar to the defense in terms of options and depth. JMO

Needed a new challenge to play out his career in a warmer climate with more time on the ball albeit I still felt he could give us another season or two but after some questioning the transfer from Dortmund I think its fair to say even the worst of doubters came to their senses.

To get the best years of football from any player no matter their qualities and value to the team in all aspects that go beyond the playing time is all one supporter can ask for and we certainly got that from this player in spades.
