iMac CD/DVD Drive Not Reading....

Just out of Apple support cover, bloody drive has started ejecting cd's after whirring and grinding for 30 seconds.

Have trawled forums and it would appear that many people have this issue and Apple are aware of this hardware problem but not forthcoming with a solution!

Anyone out there have the same problem, but get it working again? Don't really fancy having my gorgeous sleek mac with an external cd drive!

And no gloating from PC users please ;)

It looks like it is a common problem as you say,

How much is just out?

You have nothing to lose by taking it in to an Apple Store and if you have a good looking friend who takes it for you there is a chance they might do it for you for nothing.

If not, you can always replace it? plenty of new ones on eBay?

Or buy a PC :D
