Injuries 2024/25 | Dias ruled out for a month

Wow that's a big statement to make.

If he wasn't good enough Pep would he him nowhere near the first team and would be another academy graduate that we would move on, Pep wants him around the first team.

If anything, Bissouma and Bentancur looked like the young lads against O'Reilly! He had a really good game against a good Tottenham midfield that are Premier League proven and both internationals, O'Reilly didn't look out of place at all.
That's just wishful thinking. He wouldn't be anywhere near this team without the injuries.

Neither was Cole Palmer
Sometimes the more you play these young players at the top level the better they get.
And O’Reilly has improved every time he has played.
What more can you ask
Palmer was on a completely different level and anyone could see that. It was a disaster to let him go. That and Phillips are the two worst decisions the club has made in quite a while.

City should have taken a punt on Victor Osimhen.

He’s on loan at Galatasaray after falling out with Napoli.

He’s 25 years old.

He scored 26 goals, and helped Napoli win the Serie A title.

He’s scored 4 goals in 5 games, with 2 assists for Galatasaray so far.

Pep would have worked wonders with him, alongside Haaland,
De Laurentiis is still the owner at Napoli

That’s fair enough. Who would have dropped out of the regular match day squad to accommodate him, though?
I don’t think anybody would have needed to ‘drop out’. The painful reality is that we have been without at least one squad member for every league game this season, much of last, too. The games when we can call upon a full squad of fit players, in form, are few and very far between. For me, Neves would have given cover in multiple positions, not just defensive midfield (6 assists this season already), and been a mainstay for a decade.

On health matters, I’d actually like to get to the stage where we can actually afford to give each player a long weekend off during the season, where they don’t have to train nor even think about the game. If there continues to be no respite, more injuries and burnout will inevitably occur. Responsibility for players lies with the authorities, to be sure, but also with us; after all, are we not holistic!…

The problem with the absolute vacuum of information on injuries from the club is that all sorts of rumours about players are popping up all over Twatter and other places.

Namely Walker, KDB and Grealish and whether they are bothered about being fit enough or being unhappy etc.

According to some Walker has a knee issue but others say he’s not injured at all.

Grealish left a cryptic post on Instagram and there’s been absolutely nothing else.

Doku - god knows!

At lease Pep said that Kev is feeling pain if he goes full tilt in training, but it’s still baffling.

Do we know what their injuries are? Kdb hamstring? Rest of them I have no idea…

Neves would have needed to replace McAtee (or O’Reilly), though. They were the only “fringe” players left by the time we player Brentford. And we obviously can’t bring ing surplus players just in case other squad players get injured, so he would have had to replace someone at that point (not knowing injuries were coming).

Do you not rate either of them (i.e. don’t care if they drop off and so eventually want to leave)?

And I understand we need to rest players. But how many would want to be “rested” regularly? Especially when the player that replaces them for the rest period may have as purple patch and thus it is more difficult to get back in to the side.

It was true though, for most of the game I watched, we were much the better team, and those youngsters some of the better players. The reason we lost last night was our poor finishing (not for the first time recently, though luckily we've been doing just enough to win).

If you have a worry about not currently being good enough, perhaps have a look at Gundogan, and Foden (Bernardo when he came on wasn't great either).
Spurs (8SOT) were more guilty of poor finishing than we (3SOT) were. My observation was the team as a whole not the youngsters in isolation. The claim was that our available squad will easily beat Bournemouth and Brighton, I can't agree with that.

I suspect that both games will be difficult.

I often read what I consider to be " optimistic claims " from posters regarding potential successes by the team, but it doesn't mean they will prove to be correct .
