Clearly a balance needs to be found but I'd say we haven't done so this season. The squad is light in numbers and contains three senior players almost at the end of their respective top level careers. I'm not expecting any significant incomings in January btw.Sure, but it is also not really sustainable to have two or three full-fledged squad players regularly not even making the bench just in case one of the other players gets injured.
That's true but Pep will always choose the seasoned pro over the academy player to start a game. No doubt Gundogan is struggling at the moment. I think he misses Rodri as he fed off him a lot . However if he can get forward into the box on Saturday at key moments we may say his quality seep up to the top again. That's why Pep brought him back from Barca.Oreilly looked very good 2nd half when gundo went off and he started believing a bit more in himself. I'd start him Saturday alongside kovacic and bernie assuming savio is out.
