Injuries 2025/26 | Kovacic could be ruled out for further 3-4 months (p37)

Think he might be done here, which is a shame. A handy player, just can't seem to get over these ankle problems.
Yeah, you would think that’d potentially be the end of his City career, if we can find a buyer in the summer. Think he still has another year to run on his deal though.

If it really is 3-4 months then he could be ready by mid February with City still involved in all the competitions
If it's one of those 3-4 months that really means 6-7 months (like Bobb last season) then I struggle to see a route back to the First XI.

Thats crazy. I know nothing about this kind of injury but to be out for 4 months then get another injury requiring surgery again and another 4 months out before he's even fully recovered from the first is either horrific luck or questionable treatment.

If that is the case, that will be 8 months out, similar to an ACL injury, he wont be able to just slot back in, he'll need months to get back to full fitness too which will essentially end his season. He'll be looking at getting himself ready for the world cup.

Big loss that, he held our midfield together last season. with rodri recovering and picking up niggles, gundo gone and Reijnders looking clueless anywhere but the number 10, that leaves us with only nico and bernardo central who who are reliably available.

We'll probably have to stick one of our converted fullbacks back into midfield if we are short, Rico lewis is probably peps first pick for that but i'd sooner see either of O'reilly or Nunes back in there. We might have to dip into the market and bring in a central midfielder in January, bring forward Bernardo's eventual replacement makes sense if its viable. I want to see Wharton here but getting him in January will be practically impossible.

That’s a major blow if true.

Sounds like it it could be a haglunds deformity as the achilles tendon attaches to calcaneum (heel bone). Sometimes needs surgery. Shame, I thought he was almost back from his foot problems. Get well soon Kova!

no need to get excited Kalvins the boy

If we had to lose a player, that wasn’t Kalvin, for 4 months Kova would be close to the top of the list with Ortega.

He’s ok but at the end of his career and never a starter.

Get well soon.
