Injuries.

We can't stop any of our top players from playing for their national sides. They are proud countrymen and will see that as a top priority in their careers. Although it is a blow losing both Silva and Aguero in the international break they could of easily got their injuries playing in Saturday's game or in the derby instead. As for the Premier league and the England national side clubs in this country do play too much football imo and I agree with a couple of posters in this thread that it might be a good idea in scrapping one of the cup competitions and introduce a winter break.

Kolarov Hamstring, no return date
Kun Hamstring, 8th November
Yaya Hamstring, Saturday
Nasri Hamstring, Saturday
Delph Hamstring, 25th October

Plus the long term injury to Clichy.

To me, that is alarming! Especially when Zaba Kompany Mangala Hart and Fernando have all had muscle injuries this season too and it's not even halfway through October.

Hadn't noticed it like that thanks. I'm sure the medical team are aware but before we blame them shouldn't we compare City's injuries to every other premier league club? Injuries are surely dealt with on a case by case basis anyway. If City were that bad would we have finished 1st, 2nd, 1st & 2nd and won 2 cups in four years?

According to Opta we have suffered the most injuries of all clubs in the Premier League this season. And we haven't been particularly lucky in previous years. Imagine what may have been had Kompany, Aguero, and Silva remained healthy for longer stretches of time.

I've been wondering is there a connection between the muscle injuries and long haul flights, dehydration, blood issues created by flying? might be coincidence but City traveled the furtherest during pre-season. Just a thought.

We generally become injury free during the last quarter of the season when there is no international travel (cos we are out of Europe) and the physios have finally got them all fit.

Travel 1st class, but if you travel to Australia it's still going to be draining and affect the training you do over there for a few days.

We should have been training for the new season as if it was a tournament and going away somewhere and focussing entirely on the new season. Instead the club have different priorities. Pleasing sponsors and getting exposure, but nothing beats being top of the table

I am sure the people running our club aren't stupid and will have learned a lesson.

The good news is that all these injuries should have just about cleared up for the next bloody international break in November!!

Just in time for their respective Countries not to give a dam and send them all back broken again.

Just like when you were kids and you let your mates play with your best toys...they always got broken, but not by you.

Its not very likely, and 7 years ago, if that had been suggested to us as fans of Manchester City, we'd have been fuming about it, and rightly so.

It offers a lot of clubs the chance of a trophy, and of a place in europe, that they wouldn't have otherwise, simply because the bigger clubs don't prioritise it, like the other 2 domestic trophies.

There may be something in this but aguero didn't go, Kompany was back weeks early and his injury was well over a month later as were the injuries to other players. I am not sure a flight in July influenced an injury to Sulva in October to be honest.

As usual with anything in life we want to find someone to blame or something to blame but it is not always the case. Sergio and Dave have always got injured in sergios case because of the explosive stop start way he plys and in merlins case because he gets booted. Vinnie has carried this injury for years also .

Every team has periods where injuries seem consistent and chronic - look at Arsenal
