If we are going to lose Walker for a few games is it time to start with Diaz, Laporte and Stones in a back three and push Cancelo on? We will be struggling for full backs for the 1st leg of the champions league tie but we have 4 decent centre halves either in good form or our best one returning from injury.
I don’t think we can play a back three against Liverpool. Salah and Diaz would have far too much space out wide

yep back 3s dont work, unless its guardiola style with stones breaking into midfield at right back (which it could well be).

The Wimbledon comparison is an exaggeration, but the overall style is similar:

Long ball from the back to 3 runners in the box.
Long ball from wide left or right, anywhere in the opponent's half, to 3 runners in the box.

The thinking is always to get the ball in the box as quickly as possible and is very efficient and can be effective.

The thing is I have never heard any commentator or pundit say how basic Liverpool's playing style is.

The only two real differences are 1) The quality and type of long ball & 2) They’re not exactly full of dirty cloggers taking chunks out of the opposition.

Absolutely perfect analogy.
The dippers are far better than the rags or Chelsea in the premier league era due to the amount of points picked up in successive seasons. We clearly are Federer to them being Murray.
The rags are Tim Henman.
I disagree. I think trophies not points are a much more accurate indicator of quality. As such Chelsea circa 2005 and the rags, arguably more than once, have been better than this relatively underachieving Klopp era Liverpool

To continue the tennis analogy, were Murray to win Wimbledon one year and reach the final the following year narrowly losing to Roger in a five set thriller in which he won many games that isn’t anything like as big an achievement as say Rafa winning it two years running.

Champions are borne from victories (however they come) not brave or close defeats

Indeed.
Not since 2001 have Liverpool won multiple trophies in a season (that’s not including Mickey Mouse super cups etc..) Yet they all talk like the quadruple is a done deal lol
