Instagram's suitability for kids.

My wife and I managed to keep Facebook away from our daughter until she turned 16 and we think she is better for it.

Our 12 year old son is asking for us to let him join Instagram. I really have no idea what it is about.

Is it suitable for that age?

Instagram is for vain arseholes who crave a 'like' from their 'friends' for there artistic version of a selfie or plate of food. You gain followers by posting semi naked pictures of yourself and every now and then posting a filtered version of a vegan burger.


Tell your kid not to bother.

I do have it but it makes me hate people most times I'm on it haha

I don't see any problem with it it's just photos of boring shit most of the time.

Same as above really, it's ok if your child is following the more safer accounts ie; celebrities he is interested in such as City players.
There are many accounts/instances of kids posting sexually graphic content of themselves in order to gain followers/likes and if I had a child I'd allow them access but monitor who they followed.... Same applies with Twitter/Facebook.

The same applies on Bluemoon... probably more weirdo's on here :D

Is there porn on instagram? I haven't found any which is why I don't have a problem with him using it.
