Institutionalised Bias

I watched the Liverpool v Swansea game on BT on Saturday. I didn't watch the half time or full time analysis, but the match commentators were incredibly kind to Liverpool. Absolutely no word of criticism of the players or Klopp despite conceding 3 goals at home to Swansea. I'm not into the media conspiracy theory, but it was quite clear that the commentary team were conditioned to treat Liverpool sympathetically. And I dont recall reading too many scathing articles in the written press about Liverpool's performce.

The criticism of Guardiola jars even more when compared to the way that Klopp gets a free pass after a bad defeat.

Very good article, Steve. I just cannot see why, if City are having a second 'go' at Old Mother Riley and attempting to highlight some outrageous decisions, we still allow vile characters like Ashton to set foot over the Etihad threshold. If someone shits on yer Axminster yer don't offer 'em several square yards of Wilton for a repeat performance. It won't stop cretins like Ashton writing the shite they do, but then we won't be offering the slug one single crumb of hospitality. It should be a case of not requiring him to be as fawning as The RagDIpperArseHaringeyMeedya are to other teams I could mention but won't, but a piece highlighting some aspect of the club should be based on fairness and fact. Until Ashton complies, the message is "You can fuck off and yer won't be invited back until you learn simple manner!" We don't feed the hand that bites.

Its one big cosy fucking boys club the press pack, they flit around from paper to paper arse licking round each other swapping "exclusives".

Banning Ashton for three months for me would have the desired affect, as much as he will get "exclusives" off one of his other equally biased fuckwitt mates it would be him on the outside looking in-the penny would eventually drop with these bastards, give them scripted questions to ask in press conferences, its the tail wagging the dog and has been since 2008.
The club need to take control of the situation-their aim is to force Pep out of the club and say he cant handle the pressure-its certainly been turned up a notch this season since Pep arrived.

Can you imagine what it would/will be like if United edge in front of us? Mourinho winning the battle, Mourinho won the press battle in Spain (which is bullshit-it was Barca politics that Pep didn't like and putting out fires -nothing to do with him) and Pep is mentally week etc etc etc.

The image of the club and our owners has been tarnished irreparably for me-it has been one long campaign of hatred ever since 2008- at what point do we say enough is enough?

For me, it's a sort of feudalism where the media and game itself have become conditioned to an acceptance of the rags and Liverpool as the dominant social system to the point where subservient clubs are content to support a system which is manifestly unequal but serves to protect their own way of life. If that means giving droit de seigneur over their players, becoming the plucky patsy to magnify the Lord's glory or being wheeled out to pay tribute to the greatness of the GPC or Wazza every now and the, so be it.

Originally wrote that Neil Curtis wrote the S*n piece, not Ashton (still can't believe that I made such an elementary mistake but I was talking about Curtis that morning and it must bave stuck). Anyway Curtis wasn't exactly happy about this (understandably) and was even more aggrieved when I called him a c***

He seems to be under the impression that sports writers don't call other sports writers out. Nah, its this type of clique mentality that underpins the bias imo (United and Chelsea supporting journos slagging us off in the pub then putting it in print). Plus its not as if Curtis has been fair to City down the years.

Even so, it made for an 'interesting' evening!
It was me that got blocked, all for telling him to wind his neck in cos he (custis) might not have written that one but he's responsible for plenty other "execrable drivel". I've only just dried my eyes. The fact that custis got so upset though can only be a good thing.

The club need to take control of the situation-their aim is to force Pep out of the club and say he cant handle the pressure-its certainly been turned up a notch this season since Pep arrived.
Perhaps City are countering this with the release of Pep requesting a contract extension.
Nice to see the beeb wheeling the out the GPC bigging up Jose !
Regarding the constant attacks on City, nobody should be surprised , this is the system we live in !

The media in this country have never been so despicable, and that takes some doing, given their past conduct, deliberate mis-reporting, non-reporting, bribery of police and officials, perverting the course of justice, Hillsborough, Millie Dowler, brexit (the most blatant travesty of a campaign since records began), and on and on ad nauseum. A concerted negative attack on a mere football club is small beer to an industry that has no pride or morals or even a reputation to worry about. No repercussions for lying, being caught lying and then carrying on lying just makes the situation worse. When government officials (blair, hunt etc) hold secret meetings with press barons, senior police officers hold secret meetings with the likes of murdoch....... wtf. In effect the media have carte blanche to follow any path their paymasters choose. Money and influence tops everything. Sky will do anything it takes to keep the so-called sky four in the leading positions, Bt are just as single-minded in their bias. Scudamore is on record saying the Prem needs a successful rags, arse success, and sky are all set to take full control which will be bad news for fans and the game itself in the long run.
The gpc got away with murder in his treatment of journalists, mainly because he was backed by the prem and sky, sports editors who wanted to be inside pissing out than outside pissing in. City will never be in that position . Some of us would like the club to be more aggressive, ban the corrupt twats from the Etihad, refuse interviews, answer no comment to all and sundry. But, this could have consequences that do more harm than it's worth. We must avoid giving our enemies any excuse to come wading in with spurious accusations and draconian punishment, the Fa rce would love to join in.
A few chants dripping with sarcasm, and black humour (typical stuff from Bmers) would be most appreciated.......

probably not a coincidence, probably the fat ****'s attempt to be being clever.

On a side note, isn't that 659 m fans one of the most ludicrous claims ever? I think they employ the guy who did PR for Kim Jong Il - e.g. 39 under par in his first ever round of golf, aged 69 etc

Yes it is 659 million rags, the **** is not as clever as I thought.

That round of golf included 5 holes in one, we are led to believe!!

Why Bill? Unibet aren't a morally divisive site like the S*n or Mail and the more clicks this gets the more chance they will be willing for me to write similar positive pieces on City in the future.

I'm glad @Bill posted the whole thing, as Unibet is filtered out by my work's filter. Great piece either way, @Lucky Toma, I simply now refuse to believe we are all just being paranoid.

That's a great read, hopefully open up the fact that we have been on to them for a while now. Just makes every success only sweeter when you know everything in the game is trying to keep us down.
