God knows why Kaka got player of the tournament, both Robbie and Maicon played far better of the course of the competition. Would love it if we went for him.

Fuck it if sport co uk says it, it must be true!!!!!!!!!

This would mean that Zabaleta is sold, or less likely Richards. We dont need 3 right backs and we really dont need versatile players like Zabaleta (pains me to say it). We need specialists who are best in their position in the world, like Maicon. I would do it, but I still love Zabaleta.

I would say that down to the fact that he is versatile, then we do need him.

Versatile players are a plus if they can play in first XI too. But Maicon would be the best out of Richards and Zabaleta. And one of those would be a back up for Maicon. That would leave Zabaleta to be a backup of a backup. (for DM or RB) He's too good for that.

Agreed. One of Hughes' main gripes last season was that there wasn't enough versatility in the team he inherited. I think Zabaleta will be a vital member of the squad.

We're still some way off being able to think in terms of a squad of world class specialists. It'll probably be approximately July 12th 2012 before we're in that position.

Whether we are actually in for him I dont know, but really hope so - i think it is pretty obvious this guy is a class above anyone we have at the club who can play right back. Arguably worlds best right back -I would even put him in the same bracket as Edghill...
