Domination by Barcelona and Real Madrid making Spain the new Scotland...

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2010/mar/28/barcelona-real-madrid-spain" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog ... drid-spain</a>

Shocking fact within the artical says,

"...According to reliable statistics Madrid have 13.2m fans while Barcelona have 10.4m. Valencia are third with 2.1m. Nearly two-thirds of all football fans in Spain support one of the big two. And supporters of other clubs almost invariably choose Madrid or Barcelona as a "second" team...."

Also Real Madrid attendances are down by 7% this season, even with all there new signings!

13.7 million fans and they cant fill the 80,000 stadium, they got more armchair fans than the scum

Very interesting, i've always believed that despite producing some quality gems of players in the past few years, it's only been a two horse race for many years. I remember growing up teams such as Real Betis, Valencia, Atletico Madrid, Deportivo, Villareal, Zaragoza all used to battle it out in a gripping race for 2nd/3rd spot, however i think it all involves money. Some seasons clubs have money to then improve/bolster their squads but you suddenly then see a decline in teams such as Betis/Zaragoza who have both sunk to the relegation battle, even with Zaragoza being demoted to their second tier. Definetly a two-horse race and if anything it'll get worse.

mallorca are doing well and sevilla have climbed through the ranks over the past 4 or 5 years.as teams drop other teams go higher.villareal nearly won the league a few seasons back but just missed out.barcelona i think will always be dominent because they have a great youth set up,i cant say the same about madrid though.
