International Break ... is now over!

I know we slag off international breaks, and the games are shite, but I do think they are good fir the players’ wellbeing. A chance to see family and friends they are often isolated from and to see their home towns which they probably miss. Manchester is not the easiest place for a lot of people to live if they are more used to the outdoor culture.
I doubt players heading abroad for International duty (even under normal circumstances) have any time to visit home really. Most likely spend the fortnight in a hotel near training facilities.

Our South American 4 not going is a big help.

But we still have a huge chunk of our team going away and playing 3 games in 6 days, before coming back to premier league action on average less than 3 days later. Fu-ck-in-g In-cre-di-ble!

Assuming that ake won't go after his spell of injury, and laporte and mendy won't get picked for France.

Gundo, zinch, mahrez and kev will most likely go as individuals for their countries. Rodri might not get picked if we are lucky.

The huge ones for us are England, and Portugal. Thats all our rightbacks, half of our CHs (both first choice) and our regular attacking players.

And i don't think any are playing in ppaces you need to isolate when returning from, not that i would necessarily believe Pep would follow through with that claim.

Anyone know?

They are away one week all in, and play 3 games in that time, from what i can see. Doubt much visiting and mental relaxing will be happening.

I reckon being on international “duty” is a form of lockdown COVID-19 or no COVID-19. Hardly a sightseeing opportunity and away from family period.
uefa money grabbing whores once again don’t give a fuck about players mental or physical welfare now forcing them to add 3 more games into “the schedule” and absolutely no family contact

I'm assuming the reason Ake wasn't in the squad on Saturday was to stop that dickhead Dutch coach from calling him up and playing him half fit/ through injury again. Which no doubt he would do after Van Dijk's untimely demise.

It's hardly lockdown. It's players from anything up to 30 different covid bubbles across multiple countries mingling with players from up to 60 different covid bubbles across multiple countries. Plus coaching staff etc etc that won't have been in sporting bubbles before the break. It's an exponentially higher risk than club football.

I think we might see a spike in Premier league players testing positive, once they all return

Probably, although if they are meant to isolate when they return, that in theory should not happen.

Either way, a fair few across the league could end up being unavailable.

Never suggested anything you have posted. My point was purely in response to some on here thinking players would welcome the chance to visit home and family and friends which is bollocks. They will be locked down in a hotel for a week
