International Break ... is now over!

You have the crazy situation where games are played in neutral countries cleavers much like the Euro team comps but with all the lists in play it makes it almost impossible for any country to field a strong line up.

They should be delayed until the health authorities and football associations have ensured all players carry no risk to others and others they will come into contact with to them.
They will never be played if we are waiting for no risk.

If City (and liverpool) can't play in Germany without isolating, how can Gundogan play for Germany in Germany ?

Portugal is on the "red list" and they are at home in one game at least, so our Portuguese players would have to isolate on return to the UK.
It’s madness!

I disagree with mid season internationals in normal times, never mind a pandemic.

As for Germany:

Germany have confirmed playing their 2 home matches vs Iceland and North Macedonia defo in Duisburg (close to Dusseldorf).

As per now, PL players like Gundo or Werner couldn't play due quarantine rules, which will be reviewed on Wednesday by RKI in Berlin. I expect no changes and PL players won't be included.

There was the idea to fly-in PL players directly to the away match in Bucharest vs Romania - but that idea was called "not ideal" by Low,
I can't imagine this will happen in terms of team spirit.

Generally, I think these matches can happen IF safety levels are high enough. People involved are used to it over many months and we don't hear about new cases, so it seems to work somehow.

The point about additional matches doesn't really stay. Clubs have adjusted training intensity to covid times and hey, when did we have a fuckin full 23-man squad fit and available in March??

On top, go through the matches and there are many lightweight opponents involved.
Players love to play for their countries and it's a nice change for them. Hope they come back burning for the City shirt even more.

We could plan next season on the transfer thread in the meantime.

I know we slag off international breaks, and the games are shite, but I do think they are good fir the players’ wellbeing. A chance to see family and friends they are often isolated from and to see their home towns which they probably miss. Manchester is not the easiest place for a lot of people to live if they are more used to the outdoor culture.

they won't be able to see families etc if being kept in these bubbles/

we will have lots of players resting. no south american internationals. so fernandinho jesus ederson aguero all rested. mahrez I read somewhere already announced wont be called as they qualified for their nations tournament already and have dead rubber games. only european players left but pep said he wont allow anyone to go if they have to wait isolate on return. I think that takes out gundogan bernardo cancelo rubin as well. only question is kdb ake and english lads.
