International Break March

Dean Smith announced today he won't allow players to return to red countries for the international break, joining Liverpool and United.

Surely it's potentially dangerous to allow players to return and risk infecting the squad, or puts us at a competitive disadvantage to be missing important players, if they quarantine.

Is there going to be a level playing field solution found?

Not at all.

The CL represents no more danger than a league game. The clubs are in their semi-bubbles, they go by private plane or bus to a hotel, play a game, come back. It involves 2 bubbles mixing for 90 minutes during a game.

International breaks involve 40+ bubbles from clubs all over the world mixing not just during a game, but during training, on the bus/plane hotel.

They are completely different situations. The proof of which is the fact there's been no covid outbreaks after Champions League fixtures, but the last international games saw dozens of players have to isolate after testing positive on return.
Yes, fair points those.

Pep Guardiola on international break issues: "We didn't speak. We wait, this game, maybe next game we'll talk about it. It makes no sense to go there and come back, isolate for ten days. We're working incredibly hard, the break comes at important part of the season

Pep Guardiola: "It doesn't make sense and they will not fly. If they can come back and train, they will fly. We spend a lot of time, effort, money. If six, seven, eight players cannot play with us, it makes no sense

absolutely fucking stupid to have internationals. Its increasing the players risk of contracting what can be a deadly virus. They are humans, treat them as such.

Peps seemingly changed his mind thankfully, so that's Liverpool City United and villa managers all saying they're not going, I expect every single other club to follow suit now, no team is going to want to be at a disadvantage. I don't know what quarantine restrictions are like elsewhere but you have to imagine if the other clubs in different leagues are looking at this, they'll refuse to let their players go too.

Scrap the whole fucking farcical International break and give the players a much needed break, especially if you actually want strong squads at the euros and not have teams without half of their players because of injuries.
