Having trouble all of a sudden keeping an internet connection. Intermittently it keeps dropping out with my laptop showing the network card has switched off rather than it being a router issue.

Updated drivers etc but it hasn't helped and its annoying as fuck.

Probably a dodgy wifi card on the way out but any help/suggestions greatly received.

Thanks

Did you try deleting the network card in device manager then rebooting to get it to detect it again?
You might have to write down some settings first

and the usual go back to a previous restore point?

Deleted the card in device manager, rebooted and re installed it again but still no joy.

Ive scanned for viruses, malware etc. Cleaned registry etc, updated drivers, you name it, ive done it.

Come on techies, help?

Sorry bud it sounds like your card is on the way out.

A compact usb card maybe ?

Mt thoughts too mate and thanks for the link, sounds just the job.

Do you have any suggestions for speeding my lappy up mate?

Core i3 2nd gen processor and 4 gb ram so its not shit but fuck me, its running slow as fuck of late as well. Could do with shutting all the unnecessary shit off but not sure what's safe and what's not?

Is it dropping signal while physically plugged in or wireless? If wireless try it wired in first.

As for speeding it up try CCleaner (yes, there's 2 'C''s in there) and clean the registry and check what's starting up at boot, you can disable anything not strictly necessary like iTunes and Quicktime 'helpers'.

Ok, as Colin says a weeky or even daily run with ccleaner helps a bit.
A weekly scan with spybot search and destroy will help also, even if it finds nothing as it clears cache anyway.

Also "Start>(type) msconfig> run that> check "selective startup".
Now click the "startup" tab and uncheck the lot baring your antivirus.
Now click on the "services" tab and sort by manufacturer.
Now uncheck ones you do not want to start up that are non microsoft, spybot search and destroy for example or apple stuff i,.e bonjour service.
These can easily be started by services in task manager so it will not hinder or adversely affect your experience.
You can also turn a loud of microsoft stuff of like "superfetch" and "volume shadow copy".
Error reporting service, remote registry, turn them off.
Defrag your os partition, i suggest you use perfectdisk.
If you use firefox use fasterfox lite addon.
Use a low resource hogging antivirus, do not have multiple antivirus running at once either.

If i can think of more tips i will add them, and yes i know what superfetch does but in newer systems it is not really needed.
Response times are fine without having stuff preloaded into ram and boot times are about 5sec longer if that.
If you have ssd then you defo have no need for superfetch.

Cheers Guy, done all that and straight away it feels better. Still have a very slow boot up time compared to how it once was but once on it feels faster.

Cheers
