What area(s) of philosophy are you interested in?

If you don't know what takes your fancy, then I suggest reading a book that introduces you to the works of Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, the Epicureans and Stoicists.

Many of the philosophers that followed were heavily influenced by these.

My own favourites are Arthur Schopenhauer, Bertrand Russell and David Hulme.

If you have a chair in an empty room ....is it still a chair?

Read Sophies world by Jostein Gaarder, its a novel but i think its a bloody good history of philosophy in a very readable format.
