iOS 7

Time for my regular plea for help on anything more complicated than turning the thing on.

You know the way you used to be able to click the home button twice and swipe across to the left and lock the screen so it doesn't keep twissing round all the time?

Well that doesn't seem to be there anymore. Tried, settings/general/ rotation lock. And it's ticked but still not stopped it.

Ideas please.

if you swipe from bottom to top the new control centre pops up, along the top you have five buttons, airplane, wi-fi, bluetooth, do not disturb and portrait orientation. That's the one you need.

Thanks for that. Sorted on phone but that icon isn't there on the iPad.

Dont have iphone but got ipad, will that need updating too??

Steer clear of the ipad upgrade at the moment. There are quite a few issues. Best wait for the 7.0.1 which will only be a couple of weeks away. Apple will have rectified all issues in the next update.<br /><br />-- Thu Sep 19, 2013 12:35 pm --<br /><br />

You need to assigne the side switch to rotation lock on the ipad or lock it in Settings

The only problem I'm having on the ipad is that my pictures used for wallpapers are slightly blurry, using a default Stills and it's fine.

Other than that, I'm having no problems at all, then again I do have a newer model.

Settings > General > USE SIDE SWITCH TO > swap it to Lock Rotation, meaning the switch on the side of your device will lock the screen the way you have it, when you switch it. The non snooty version.

Thanks very much for your advice, GX and Alan.

I'm actually sat here with a real sense of achievement now.

Pathetic really for anyone out of infants school.

My Mum gets a pop up on her laptop, and I get a text message in frantic writing asking what to do. You're doing much better haha.

Bit gutted the airdrop function is only available on iphone 5 or later.

I used to be able to close any apps by double clicking the home button and holding down the app icon until it started to shake and i could click on an 'x' to close the app.

This function seems to have been taken away now. I can still bring up the app icon but holding it down no longer makes it shake, which would allow me to close it. Anyone worked out how to close apps yet?

Double tapping the home button now brings up an almost tab swap function, not sure about the iPhone but on the iPad, if Swipe upwards on the tab it closes it like you're throwing it away.
