Been inside the Avro Shackleton at the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry was a big thrill for me as it is a development of the Lancaster bomber. I built several plastic model kits in my younger days and the Lancaster bomber was one of my favourites.

They should have admitted it immediately. They were never going to be able to keep up a lie over something like this.

The USA have never admitted liability for the deaths of over 300 Iranian's when they shot down an airliner in 1988. And they denied it ever happened at the time.

These things happen in times of heightened tension; thankfully of this magnitude not very often. Studies have shown that during periods of intense stress, the normal decision making processes of the human brain are impaired and people can easily miss something that would otherwise be blindingly obvious.

It was an accident.

It certainly doesnt, the US paid compensation to the victims but never admitted liability. Then then honoured the comander of the US Vincennes with a military award. Real classy stuff from the Yanks. Wonder if the Iranian regime will do the same with the chap who shot down the Ukranian airliner. The yanks have a history of covering up or ignoring accidents and crimes involving their military. Like the MyLai cover-up, their attempts to exhonerate their pilots in the Calavese Cable Car disaster and more recently the shocking on going case of Anne Sacoolas.
