Iranian General killed by US Drone.

The stupid thing about this thread is that most of those decrying the action would be jumping for joy if it'd been someone like Trump, Netanyahu, the head of the CIA or Mossad on the receiving end of an Iranian assasination. Shows what warped sensibilities some on here have.
It's not warped at all. It's just a historical understanding of what we have inflicted on the people of the middle East since oil was discovered there. We drew lines in the sand, selected despots as our proxies, changed them when it suited. Gave oxygen to Islamic fundamentalism and then raged against the monster we created. It's a fucking mess and the West has a lot to answer for.

What a wonderful tolerant place it would have been without the wicked west.

If the only export from the area was rice absolutely no way we would be so involved militarily.

I think you are purposefully missing the point but do carry on with the pointless side scoring with regards all things Middle East. We have heard it all before.

Hopefully stays that way and the UK and the rest of Europe keep out of it. Maybe a few years into the war we can offer America help ,get them riddled in debt to us and make Sterling the number one currency again.
Sadly being that we are a Western democracy and an ally of the USA we are pretty much guilty by association and now a legitimate target. It's definitely a headache the UK can do without right now.

There has been an undeclared war for 40 years between Iran and the US. Every so often Iran does somthing that triggers strong retaliation and it gets very warm - In this case killing an American contractor then attacking the US embassy.
Iran has promised to escalate this situation. Let's see how stupid they really are.

With the current governments love of islamophobia we could be seen as a target.

There's some truth in that but it's not the fault of the West that, for instance, Sunni's hate Shia's (& vice versa) or that the various tribes fought and killed each other for dominance, when oil wasn't a thing.

But it misses the fundamental point that it's possible to recognise that Suleimani was a bit of a shit, while simultaneously recognising that it probably wasn't a wise move to do what the US did. Also, like Ireland the history of the Middle East is littered with instances of "You did that four hundred years ago so we've got every right to blow you up".
