Ireland - One season wonder?

No. He'll be even better than last season for the season of 2009 - 2010. The amount of balance we have in midfield next season will be immense. We'd have a naturally 'sit in front of the back four' player in either Nigel De Jong or Vincent Kompany, while Gareth Barry links up the defence to the attack and Stevie Ireland storms into the box trying to link up with the attacking players and score goals.

I expect Ireland to set himself the target of 20 goals next season as that would mean he is consistently up there with Lampard and Gerrard, two of the best in his position. Whether he can do that is up to the player himself. I believe he has the talent to do so, but my belief and his reality could be very different.

he is looking awesome mid june,, the one thing he could struggle with is,, damaging himself, banging the pad work, and groin injuries.. he has been a bit hit and miss over the last 3 seasons,, last season was his coming of age and recognition. never again will we see a second rate player from ireland

Anyone else fear this.

He had such an amazing season last season, has he got too much to live upto and therefore be a flop?

We see it so often with players, they have one great season, and then they just fall.

I hope this is not the case, but fear the worst!

Not a chance in a million years will Ireland be a one season wonder.

I would say stick to tennis betting, but that wasn't to good either was it ;-)

Please delete this thread!

I'm all for not getting carried away (ie, winning the league next year, world domination the year after), but this is just sheer pesimissm.

Ireland will hopefully be the main man, amongst the million pound superstars. His determination and attitude suggests he has a lot more to give than, even more than last season.

He has always had quality, last season he put consistancy onto his CV.

With the addition of quality players around him, he can concentrate more on his own game, and the better class of player around him should improve on his game.

I just cant take it any more, i really cant.

This sort of thread really gets to me but I imagine if after two games Ireland has average games people will come out with this sort of rubbish. The lad is doing his hardest to ensure last season wasn't a flash in pan, I wonder how many others have such dedication to keep their fitness to such levels?

irelands won;t be a one season wonder
but de jong is a one metre wonder and ronaldo is a 1 inch wonder
