Is Gunnar A Gonner?

that's settled then, he's not our number three and an extra place for a foreign trained player in the 25 man CL squad is available because Eirik Johansen is on our B list. Excellent news on a Monday!

Great news off to update CL and prem league squads.

I can see you a supporter of great perception

Correction, all updated, bad news, CL squad is up to its limit total 24 players unless we sign Sturridge as a striker then it can go to 25, any more to go in that squad needs a foreign or association player to leave. One more space in prem league squad. No wonder Mancini wants a player to leave but which one. :-(<br /><br />-- Mon Aug 13, 2012 5:43 pm --<br /><br />Of course if Savic goes out on loan for a season that will be enough to free up that space.

I meant Rodwell is now accomodated, if Kolo went as well as Savic we'd have two more spaces for foreign imports!

Agreed, nice to know someone else on here keeps a check on such matters, all very well speculating who is coming in but any incoming "top drawer" signing will expect to be in both CL and Prem Squads. :-)

The guy is almost 26 and played less that 10 professional games.

I don't know what's worse. That or Stuart Taylor's career so far. 68 apps in 15 years.

A Hughes signing from Blackburn who has quietly survived the cull(s). We aren't the only club who have a keeper like this, mid-20s who has achieved absolutely nothing in his career, always puzzled me as if a situation ever arose where only Nielsen was available we'd be on the phone for an emergency loan, ala Fulop after our keepers were injured or on loan and Nielsen got 15 minutes against Arsenal.

Faroe's Nielsen out to defy Germany
06 September 2012, 13:42

Minnows Faroe Islands tackle hosts Germany in Friday's World Cup qualifier with goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen at least having enjoyed some experience of England's Premier League – albeit for 17 minutes.
The 25-year-old has been on Manchester City's books for three years and hopes to be between the posts in Hanover as the Faroe Islands attempt an unlikely first win over Germany at the third attempt.
"Then we would have a real world sensation (if we win)," admitted Faroe Islands coach Lars Olsen.
Ranked 154th in the world according to football's governing body Fifa alongside the likes of Yemen, Fiji and Malaysia, the Faroe Islands, with a population of 50,000, have only enjoyed a handful of wins this century.
Most of the squad play their football on the north Atlantic archipelago with a handful playing in Norway, Denmark, Scotland and Iceland.
Their opening Brazil 2014 qualifier sees them pitted against arguably the strongest team in Group C with Joachim Loew's Germany looking to dominate their opening qualifiers including Tuesday's clash with Austria in Vienna.
Nielsen became the Faroe Islands' first to play in the Premier League when he replaced injured Shay Given for the last 17 minutes of City's goalless draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in front of 60 000 in April 2010.
"I came on without thinking anything, it was definitely better that way," he told SID, an AFP subsidiary, having made the first of his seven appearances for the Faroe Islands in their 2-1 win over Iceland in 2009.
His 17 minutes have been his only Premier League appearance so far for City following loan spells at Wrexham and Tranmere Rovers
while his contract in Manchester runs until the end of the season.
Injuries have hampered Nielsen and he came on in the Faroe Islands' 2-0 friendly defeat in Iceland last month which was his first match for more than a year following a nasty knee injury.
His main rival for the No 1 shirt is 42-year-old Jakub Mikkelsen and both players each conceded a goal against Iceland.
Olsen has said he will only decide who will play on Friday morning.
I want to play well, but firstly for my team, then for myself," said Nielsen.
funny he's not in the PL squad then - there was plenty of room

I mentioned this on here the other day. Nielsen was released at the end of last season we offered Taylor a 1 year contract extension he rejected it then we re-signed Nielsen on a 1 year contract then 2 weeks later we released him again when we signed Richard Wright
