Is it shameful what the FA are doing?

Cheers, and do you not think it would be progressive if this type off conversation could occur at a high level in football. So that a referee was promoted on merit rather than politics. Some of the clowns who reach the top are unbelieveable. It would need an independent , probably foreign organisation, to pinpoint and fastrack referee of potential, and not blazered old farts.

I thought the barometer was the last World Cup, no referees from Premier league, that is right isn't it.? The league with the most money couldn't manage a single referee. 99 referee were appointed, none of the 99 from Britain. The media seemed to ignore it.

If as expected we are going to enter another 3 weeks of lockdown from today I think it’s shameful the FA have not cancelled the premier league and made the season null and void, it’s not about us remaining champions or denying Liverpool it’s about the right thing to do. Wimbledon, the derby, the grand national etc all abandoned their sporting events surely the time has come now for the FA to do the right thing.
They'd fucking die first.

pressure again from uefa today to finish the old season in late summer and behind closed doors

if this happens am done with football and the ****s running it they can fuck off ? this is about money and that's its nothing more and all the morels are gone. why would it be for anything else other than money and greed, football will lose millions of fans and everything that was built in the last 100 years all because of greed and not the sport we all love

let me just try and put this down in the right way ? in last 2 months the world has been hit by a virus and a pandemic. and over 160,000 people have died from covid 19 and its still growing ? many countries are in melt down and looking at a worldwide recession and nobody knows what the hell is going to happen in the coming months and uefa and fifa and the premier league want to play football really is this the world we live in today

how about sorting out the mess its going to leave most people when we can start to build some sort of normal life again ? sport will need to step back and respect others. asking the right people about the virus would be the first thing football/sport should be doing. major sports need fans going to watch the events. and both sports players and fans need to know the risk of mass gatherings and safety

plus please never play sport behind closed doors and ask fans to pay and watch from home. because the day that happens sport becomes just a game and everything that goes with it will be lost ? like loyalty and faith and investment and lifestyles hopes and dreams all washed away in a flash

What is the exposure to the betting companies if the season gets null & void, sky bet & behind all these club sponsors?

who were the favourites, do you get all bets refunded? All that money gambled on little City...

I don’t think it’s the TV deal you can simply renegotiate a future deal but betting & 90 prem league live games for everyone to sit at home betting.

It's not the home betting driving this though. It's pretty well guaranteed to be the dodgy money on livarpool for far eastern syndicates

Maybe if the authorities thought that any games played behind closed doors would result in large numbers congregating outside grounds they would think again.

How do you expect football clubs to survive until some time next year if they aren’t playing games?

They’re not playing them for the sake of it, they’d be playing them to survive. They need to keep the money coming in from tv deals, sponsors and bonuses in order to pay the wages and other costs.

Nobody can be sure when crowds will be allowed into stadiums so putting the entirety of football on hold until perhaps sometime in 2021 just isn’t feasible from a business point of view.

Not having a go by the way, just genuinely want to know what your solutions would be to stop the clubs going bankrupt if they’re not allowed to play.

You are correct, but football is in the same position as many other businesses that are just as fucked and are having to just suck it up and hope for the best once the public health issue is under control. Football is no different or 'special' in any way but seems to think it is. It's tough for football clubs, but it's also tough for hairdressers.
