Is it time to try Foreign Refs in the Prem?

After yesterdays disgraceful and utterly dreadful performance by Clattenburg and other totally useless referees/officials in the Prem is it time to perhaps look abroad at the solution?

I know the idea was muted a few years ago of hiring officials from the European Leagues and bringing them over to ref our Prem games but nothing ever happened.

Surely Italy aside they can't be as bad as some of the clowns we have and it could perhaps quell any allegations of being biased when reffing particular teams?.

Who are going to referee the matches in the countries whose refs we borrow?

Or are there countries with that many world class, incorruptible refs, they could stretch to doing all their own and our matches too?

Not saying EVERY game but like the "big" games could they not hire for example some LA Liga officials for a Saturday game here?

Would you say that your average Spanish referee is man for man better than their English counterparts?

Serious question. Whenever I watch a Spanish game, it seems to finish 9 a side with the refs prancing about waving cards like they're on commission.

-- Mon Oct 29, 2012 5:24 pm --

We play Saturday and they play Sunday!

You're suggesting they should referee two games in different countries on successive days?

I'm guessing the OP doesn't watch many non Prem games because most of the refs in other leagues are shit. Man for man the Prem does have the best refs.

-- Mon Oct 29, 2012 12:31 pm --

The FA claim that we have the best league in the world, hahaha, so why not import the top refs from the world like we have done with players?

Because the top refs are being used in other leagues??? They are not going to ref 2 games in 2 days plus the traveling.

Foreign refs get a bad rep because there are some crazy ones like card happy Cuneyt Cakir (who throws out yellows for fun but is at least consistent with it), but there are some great foreign referees. Look at Svein Oddvar Moen who did the Ajax game, 33-years-old and from Norway, did he call attention on to himself in any way? Nope, he did a fine job and was mostly not in focus as any good referee should be. It would also be harder for Baconface to influence referees who did not grow up in this country and around our media.
