Is Manchester a tough place to live in?

lol Manchester is still fucking horrible but I love it. Streets are never cleaned, I walk past piss, shit and vomit on a daily basis. Homeless doing drugs in the streets. My neighbour was burgled last week, fourth robbery in my (fairly nice) city centre apartment building in the space of a few months. Knobheads everywhere. Don't even get me started on Trafford.

I lived in Leeds for a bit ( 20 years back ). 1st ever place I lived where McDonalds had bouncers and there were pre pub fights!. fuckin shit hole that place was.

How the hell do they get into your apartment blocks I thought they’d be all secure entry?

Think this all harks back to a test match played at Old Trafford years ago.It rained on all five days,as it did in the rest of the country at that time. However the radio commentators moaned about it always raining in Manchester and as there was a large amount of interest in the match, these comments reached a large audience and the epithet stuck.
Or summat like that according to my old dad.
That sounds right, actually.

For all of you weather moaners..lived in Townsville Australia. Missed the seasons, missed the pubs, missed my family and missed the banter. Went there and was down the beach every day for two weeks and got bored. Then it gets to 40c in summer, the humidity, the tropical rains in spring and then 3 months of nice weather in winter. Its so hot you run between the aircon in your car and the aircon in shopping malls. Then you get the skin cancer, the sea where you cant swim because of stingers and sharks, the pubs full of nobs that are far worse than Manchester believe me. The girls all have STDs. Scenery great and scuba diving great. England is home and a bloody great country, north or south.

Sounds like a right shithole. Glad Canada accepted us before the Aussies did.

I lived in Eastend Park in Leeds for a while god that was rough, Seacroft was the same as well, I was knocking off this bird over there, and was glad to be back in Manchester when we split.

I currently live about 2 miles from that Seacroft estate. Quite nice here compared to other areas I've lived over this way, but fuck me that Seacroft is grim. Got its own modern shopping centre equipped with any shop you could need and its own bus station. 70s high rise blocks surround it in each direction. Full of Roma and serial unemployed in that Tesco, about 3 teeth shared between all the locals. Swear someone gets stabbed on that site each week too.

Everywhere has its bad areas, but it's easier to find a nicer area around Manchester than this side of the Pennines in my experience. I find Manchester city centre quite grubby though, despite the redevelopment over the last 10+ years.
