Is Neymar really all that valuable?

He's been at PSG for four seasons and only managed to play 70 league games!

As a comparison, Mo Salah joined Liverpool the same season and has 145 league games for them. Sticking with the comparison, Neymar has 116 total games for them with 87 goals, and in a much stronger league Salah has 203 total games and 125 goals.

Why is he still regarded as such a valuable player in 2021? The guy barely plays and is on extortionate wages after being signed for an extortionate fee.

Doesn’t have the mindset of a top player like Messi, in the quarter finals against Bayern Munich and small parts of the 1st half in Paris when we played them he looked unplayable. He can go past people with ease and must be a nightmare to play against when he wants it. Once Diaz had kicked the shit out of him in the second half he looked a broken man and was completely anonymous.

Show pony who thrives in a league with only a couple of decent teams. Also a cheat, and if officials don't pander to him like his management do he sulks. Very talented footballer, but potentially pretty toxic in the dressing room I'd have thought.

Very good player, but nowhere near the level of Messi/Ronaldo at that age. Also too late for him to adjust himself and reach the heights he was supposed to have reached by now.

Value-wise, I'd say much of his value comes from his marketing potential. Kids dig flashy players.
