Is Pep a defensive genius?

Our defence can be exploited. Throw any stats you want out there but if you are playing in a possession based team then you are obviously going to concede less chances leading to less goals being conceded. We are far from bad at the back but we have seen whenever a team presses us we have mistakes in us.

That is not true this season. If you watched all the match this season you will see we are considerably better defensively this season. Teams that try to press us are getting their assess handed to them.

There's more to defending than the defence though. Take our pressing for example. It's not random, headless chicken stuff. You see players closing down the angles, forcing players to play a particular ball, which the rest of the team are then ready for. That kind of thing is an example of his brilliant defensive coaching and tactics. Most of the time, our defending is done before it gets anywhere near our defence.

Absolutely, I am not discrediting our defence I just think people get too precious when it is claimed we can be got at. I had it last year, got a load of abuse and then within a couple of months the Liverpool games and United I think people actually understood what was being said. We don't have the best defenders in the world but as a team we defend very well.

I agree probably this season, we defended very well at Liverpool and it was nice to see. It was a complete change in approach and tactic there which was desperately needed. You could also use the other example that Lyon attacked us and absolutely ripped our defence to shreds.

Lol I dont agree that Lyon ripped our defense to shreds thats preposterous to say. they capitalized on our complacency a couple of times that day thats all
