guys, whats the status for pre season now with covid related schedule change?

PL starts soon 12/09/2020 in 5 weeks time.

We might still be playing CL games up to 19.08. or 23.08. if we get to semis or even final which would leave our squad with a 2.5-3 weeks time before PL.

We might get some extra time from FA/PL but that means we would have some really tricky fixture list later on because starting bit later wouldnt mean finishing later than the rest.

I assume the normal pre season training which focuses on fitness will not be needed as players are now at a very different fitness level and they some speicifc training for this in May before the comeback.

But is that enough to take us through from September until May, and then a Euro 2020 is scheduled too?

So what is the plan from the time we are done with CL? 1/2 weeks of holiday for the players and back to training?

Think we would start the season 1 or 2 weeks later than everyone else if we get to the final. Fuck knows when we'd be able to catch up those games though, there's no space in the calendar next season.

Yoof in the cups, rotation as in the last 6 weeks, good fortune with injuries, pull players from national squads and at least two more top quality signings.

But even then we might have to schedule PL games at the same time as cup games (in which we play the 'yoof')

We were struggling for space in the calendar this season prior to the lock down.

It's not ideal.

If we get to the final we start three weeks behind the others, not ideal but it is what it is
It gives the media 3 weeks to wank over the rags “Putting City in their place” until we finish 20 points in front of them by the end of the season.

Thats my point, if we start 2-3 weeks later that would maybe like 4 PL games behind. Seems stupid that in 5th round maybe we play our first and to make up for it will be hard.

Also I saw CL group stage is scheduled between middle October until middle of December. Which is 1 month shorter than the normal middle of Sept. until middle of Dec schedule.

The often useless international breaks must be cancelled, also that Nation League format there is no time for it.

Its gonna be an exhausting time for all squads, as normally we middle if August middle of May PL campaigns, now it looks 1 months shorter as well.

Same amount games but both CL and PL seem 1 month shorter.

CL group stage still scheduled as 6 games in each group, wonder if they think about changing the format there too in worst case scenario.

Someone like Leicester who dont have great quality apart from their first 12-13 players maybe will fucking struggle with the EL games on top in a heavy fixture list.

Liverpool once again imo will give up Carabao first opportunity.

It’s a good job the clubs haven’t just voted against allowing 5 subs to help ease the strain of the upcoming gruelling schedule that’s going to result in an unprecedented amount of injuries and countless moaning about it...

If we go deep into the champions league, we might actually be in better shape to start the season seeing as we won’t have had any time off and will have played competitive games against top opposition so we won’t really need a pre-season in terms of fitness, will inevitably catch up with us down the line though. players might miss out on a holiday but given the global situation right now, I’m not sure many would want/be permitted to leave the country anyway
