Days like this really make me question what is happening in the world, i have a young Grand daughter and wonder what sort of world she is going to have to grow up in. What is it about human nature that causes people to act like this? You wouldn't think that it would be too much to ask to be able to live without fear anywhere in the world.

The sad thing for me is that this all stems from religion, my gods better than your god !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can understand people having faith but to carry out acts like this in the name of religion is just sickening.
Good post, we must protect our children, family and grandchildren from any contact with anything relating to any of this kind of stuff the best we can. What a sad world we live in.

It is incredibly depressing. But someone else said 'I'm not sure I want to bring anymore kids into this world'.

It is a big world really, and such things shouldn't really deter anyone from having children.

If I had my way, 'religion' would be laughed off the planet and all kids would be schooled in virtue. I mean, I know most relgions have "do unto others.." etc written in, but they can all be perverted.

These people though, "murderers" "barbarians" etc Are they acting out of desperation? Desperate men do bad things of course. But it looks like dogmatic psychotic cult loony madness to almost everybody.

Knowledge is virtue Aristotle said or Socrates, or some ANCIENT greek. And yet here we are and as we were. Regimes, dictatorships, genocides, terrorism, and so on. No end in sight.

But still, gotta carry on, what else is there to do.

You could remove all religion from the world and the same people would still argue, fight and even kill saying their "virtue" is superior.

You're probably right mate. There will always be arguments, and there should always be probably. But "God" is faith and virtue is linked to reasoning and logic. Or is it? I think it is. It is definitely a better way of progressing nevertheless.

I understand your point but I guess what I'm saying is that virtues by means of reason and logic can still be hijacked by evil people and followed by those that choose not to follow reason and logic or are just simply too weak-minded or even evil themselves.

The scary thing is we have gullible idiots in our own country who support this psychotic death cult.

Is that not because some people have empty lives (or that is how they perceive modern life) and want to find an "identity" and "purpose" by attaching themselves to this or that group.

(....Could be aimed at football supporters, which of course is harmless fun....)

The internet and a globalised media make this all the more accessible and , to some, attractive. I wonder how many of the British participants in this madness are unemployed Media Studies graduates?
