Is the England national team good or bad for City players?

I’m guessing when you’re part of a squad that’s going for a quadruple it gets a bit claustrophobic being in that bubble. I reckon it does our players the world of good to interact with their teammates in the national squad. So the break is probably a good thing on the whole.

Sterling gets so much shit on a regular basis from England and City fans as well as the media that I don't think he's affected anymore. Which is good but also it's sad that we've got here.

Walker doesn't really attract too much attention. Plus I think he's mature enough not to be affected by negative press.

Stones has bounced back enough times not to concern me.

Foden is the only one I'm concerned about. I think there's too much expectation on him and if he doesn't deliver people will turn on him.

Oh, and it's not exclusively an English thing either. In Brazil, Fernandinho is strongly disliked by many due to what happened in both the 2014 and 2018 World Cups, and Jesus is similarly disliked due to the 2018 World Cup.

It's all part and parcel of football really.
Well football is a spectator sport, class players come under less criticism because they usually don't make mistakes. Class forwards convert lots of chances, class defenders don't have brain farts very often.

Jim White slagging Raz off for diving this morning. It’s like I watch a different game some times. His standing leg got cleared out by the defender!

Jim White ...............fucking hell Pingu , you should know that he is a fucking imbecile and ignore the twat.

Apart from the good looking women presenters, sky is solely for the terminally stupid ie rags and dippers .

England have always been slightly lower quality than the best clubs side. I can remember people saying Liverpool would beat England nine times out of ten in the late seventies and early eighties.
Stones dropped a bollock, but he dropped a similar bollock (against Boro?) which cost us a couple of points soon after he joined. He's been great this season but players make mistakes at all levels.
Playing for England won't improve a players as Southgate and his staff are suggesting tactics, they aren't trying to improve the techniques of international standard players. I'm all for reducing the number of international games due to the risks of injury and player burn-out, but a few days in the presence of lower quality players is not going to turn John Stones into a third rate central defender.

In answer to the original question: "bad"

For what it's worth; any professional footballer is wasting their time playing for the English national team.

After all England have about as much chance of winning silverware as Andorra or Kazakhstan.

So it's a rather futile exercise and one that may lead to injury.

I was fuming with Southgate for keeping our players on the pitch as long as he did. I was thinking to myself "for fuck sake Southgate these lads have got a premium league title to win you wanker".

I mean really, who the fuck would want to play for a team managed by that nodding donkey Southgate, and run by those pricks at the FA?

Wouldn't bother me if all the City players decided not to play for the national team - in fact I'd love it.

I can see it now that Foden wont be a starter in the Euros. He’ll join a long list of top class players who england manager after england manager had no clue what to do with and opt for a safer bet.

Playing for your country used to be regarded as the pinnacle of a career.
I’m not so sure that’s the case anymore given how big European club football has become.
Players competing for the top clubs realise they have a better chance of silverware at their clubs than with the national teams.
Playing for the national team is a double edged sword; do well and you’re liked by everyone, do badly and anyone not supporting your club thinks you’re a useless wanker.
There is no loyalty in international football from the fans and media if you make a mistake hence imho international football can only be bad for your development.
The tv commentary last night was disgraceful. You know it’s bad when the commentators say a player will get pilloried for a mistake.
Hate international football and wish none of ours were involved in it.
