Is the only way forward a step backwards for some Players.

Its Guinness time any day of the week.
Am I surely wearing my blue tinted specs when I ask the question "anyone leaving City nowadays are going backwards in their career ?"
Are Man City now the new Barca, Real or Bayern M. with players now arriving because of who we are and obviously wanting to work with Pep.Players may be sold to any of the above three teams but as fans do we now regard that as a step in the wrong direction, when we see ourselves as one of the top European Clubs ?
I accept the premise that we need to be more consistent in our yearly CL quest and hopefully see ourselves winning the PL under the guidance of a truly wonderful Manager.
I`ve thought about it ... yes it would be a backward step and maybe, just maybe, with the type of football we are now seeing, other high profile Players from around the world wants to join Peps new revolutionary journey.

Anybody leaving these days is likely to be doing so because we want them to leave.

Who was the last player we sold against our wishes?
It depends if by 'our' do you mean the club or the fans.
I think De Jong fits both; Joe will fit the latter when he eventually goes
edit: I'm sure the club would have liked to hang on to Milner - although hardly a serious loss in hindsight

That wasn't the point I was making. Oakie was obviously talking about the here and now and my post was simply to say anybody leaving under Peps management will be doing so because they're not part of his plans.
I see where you were coming from though. Peps a game changer IMO.

One thing i've noticed over the last few years is that none of our best players have actually wanted to leave. Silva and Aguero could easily have pressed for a Barca/Real/Bayern move if they wanted to, but haven't.

We must be doing something right
