I can only ever remember Wolves singing that 'Mary Hopkins' song , even going back to the very early seventies on the South Bank terrace ...... and they're still fuckin' at it today!
Not a city song at all then. I heard some blues trying to sing it last night with the words adapted. Thought it was odd I hadn't heard it before.
To my knowledge it's never been a City song ...... i struggle to even recall Liverpool singing it ...... but i started to go to matches in 1969 , and certainly Wolves fans were singing it then ... that is 100% definite!
I stood amongst them on their hostile unsegregated terraces enough to know that!

Here's the song lyrics Wolves use .......
Song lyrics for .... Those Were The Days (Mary Hopkins)
Once upon a time there was a tavern, Where we used to raise a glass or two, or three or four!
Where we used to while away the hours,
Thinking of the things we used to do.
Those were the days my friend,
We thought they'd never end,
We'd sing and dance for ever and a day.
We'd live the life we choose,
We'd fight and never lose,
For we're The Wolves, oh yes we are The Wolves!
La la la la la. La la la la La la la laaa la, la la la la...
