Is tonight's performance important as long as we win?

I honestly hope we play well tonight, as opposed to just hoping for the right result. We need a bit of confidence to take out on the road.

BTW, I don't know why, but I am dreading this.

Not really. It would be great to play well and smash Chelsea, but a positive result is more important

Why are you dreading it? You should be welcoming games like this, we're in the big time now

I can't help it. It's such an important game on so many levels. It isn't just about the points. Winning it will give the scum pause for thought, especially if we play well.

I didn't mean the performance is more important than the result. Of course it isn't. But a win AND a good performance might be very important in how it affects the next sequence of fixtures. Getting back to our imperious best will win us the title whatever the scum do.

Tonight is going to be a cracking game. By all accounts the players cant wait for Tevez to come back (media spin?) and Chelea are playing with confidence and are after 4th place. I cant wait!!

Playing well is judged over a season or a series of seasons. Individual games are all different; sometimes you have to grind out results and it matters not a not how you play.

We played that league game a couple of seasons ago v Tottenham and it was more or less a Champs league play off
We, as a group of supporters, were terrified of winning and it rubbed off onto the players.
Last season when the chips were down towards the end of the season, in the cup semi and then during the run in where we played Spurs again, we fucking showed what we were made of and it's that attitude, drive and determination that we all, players and fans, must apply again
