Islamic State kills Another US hostage

Terrible news.

And reports this morning that IS have announced the next hostage to be killed will be British.

the basic message has to be if you are British or American get out of the region.
No amount of danger money is worth potentially ending up the next victim in one of these videos...

Do you just get angry at my posts for no reason? Just wondering, because I actually said the west is doing well on this one.

HAHAHA! Who is this "west" you speak of?

However, I do enjoy watching your use of "their," where you flip flop between America the Great Satan, that causes all the world's problems, and America the Great, that will help fix the world's problem.......usually because the only other "civilized, first-world world" entity that could possibly do anything (the EU) crawls through molasses anytime it comes to spending a Euro or putting a soldier anywhere in the world to stop genocide!

People scream about human rights when America does go in and anyone gets killed....all while decrying the genocide they are trying to avoid!damned if you do, damned if you don't!

Not to worry, though, everyone is meeting in Europe to discuss Ukraine. Let's see what comes of that, eh? Wonder what the EU stalwarts will do.....wave a stern finger, maybe? After all, wouldn't want to hurt anyone's human rights!

Anyway, late here and off to Tokyo tomorrow, so might be a few days before I get to follow where this thread goes. Enjoy.

How many hostages have they got?

Heard on SN this morning that other countries have been paying the ransom to get their hostages back, dont know whether I agree with this or not. On the one had if if was my loved one yes I'd want to ransom paid, but on the other hand I agree with the "never negotiate with terrorists" difficult one

it wont happen mate.

James Foley was kidnapped in syria and released 2 years ago, he did a tour of colleges in america talking about the plight of being captured and the risk of murder/death. This still didnt stop him going back and putting himself at risk again. Some maybe there for the money, but ultimately all are there because they want to be

Load of bollocks, money's worth nothing compared to life. We have a lot of troops in those regions atm evacuating minorities to safer areas and I hope we ransom every last one that gets captured, if any do. Anyone who goes in there and risks their lives to help others more vulnerable to harm shouldn't be sacrificed for the sake of a politician's soundbite.

Yea, I suppose these people are old enough to know the risks and its up to them ultimately, its their choice to be there...

There is no problem finding them, they are ruling a big chunk of Iraq and Syria, but military force is not going to solve this one it will help but ultimately there will have to be a political solution
ISIS have to be destroyed, there can be no negotiation with those who will commit wanton genocide, but I don't think the United States and Britain being involved more than they are, is appropriate. I think we've got it right for a change, airstrikes, aid-dropped aid, and arm the Kurds if you insist on arming someone. Nothing else though, no boots on ground, and no arming of Shia forces.

As for the political solution, of course, the problem repeatedly in the Middle East is the never-ceasing failure to address the politics which lead to desperation and thence extremism.

The solution is to bring the situation back to how the the Americans left it, not perfect but it was getting there, everyone was warned that this was going to happen

But IS have stated their aims are not just to reclaim, but hugely expand into all of the middle east, and ultimately Europe. So they simply cannot be 'reasoned' with .... which means no political discussion will work to solve this problem ...
