Fireproof gear, riot shields, batons and handcuffs. Which is exactly how European police forces would deal with it. They'd be criticised for using the batons on minors as well.

But it's not a European police force dealing with a night of civil disturbance is it? It's an army protecting its border against a group of terrorists who want to wipe their country off the map.
