Two nights tentatively booked in Istanbul in November as I make my way to Azerbaijan away with Wales.

I have a hotel in Taksim and wanted to check it was the best area for nightlife. All I’ll want is food and bars. I also plan to visit their Grand Bazaar emporium so a logical way via public transport is needed. I fly in to Sabiha Gokhen Airport.

Any advice and tips welcome!

Might be better off staying in the Sultanahmet area? Got everything within walking distance then. It's where we stayed for the UEFA Cup final in 2009 that sadly City didn't make :(
Don't forget your visa!

The airport bus drops off at Taksim Square which I think is the European side. As long as it’s a straightforward journey to the Grand Bazaar in Fatih then I’ll be happy enough with that. I bet the kebabs are exceptional!

Noted RE: Visa. I think it’s about £20.

It’s great being abroad because nobody ever knows where Wales is. Even locals in Berlin were struggling.

My Airbnb host in Budapest proudly informed me that I was the first Welsh guest they’d ever had.
